Dubs Bad Hygiene

Would really appreciate being able to assign radiators to specific thermostats
The way it works now, all thermostats are linked to the pipe network they are on. If you're like me, you only have one pipe network so you don't need multiple pumps/towers/treatment plants. That means if one room in the network dips below the target temperature, all radiators in the colony turn on. Recently I had all rooms at 31 degrees in summer instead of 21 and I had to find the one thermostat that was set to 22 instead of 21 degrees. (The vanilla ACs were working against the radiators because for me they just work better than the bad hygiene AC system).

I would really like to be able to assign individual radiators to individual themostats, or even entire rooms or buildings but that would probably require having some sort of separate indoor plumbing vs municipal plumbing system (would be nice too).

actually you probably just have a placebo effect, radiators already have a target temp of 21c, just like heaters that are left on year round they can't actually heat a room past 21c.

in this screenshot i have 2 rooms 1 with a radiator, during a heatwave, and both rooms are the same temperature

https://prnt.sc/upopx3

i have it set up this way so you don't need to think about changing target temps on 150 radiators in a large base, you just have 1 thermostat you place in the coldest part of your base, what i could do is maybe add a button to the thermostat to disable all heating to radiators which you could toggle off during summer just so all heating capacity goes to the boilers

What happened was one room had a themostat target temp of 22 degrees for some reason and an aircon temp of 21, so the aircon was fighting the radiators and all other rooms in the base had the radiators cranked up as a result too.

But good to know I could just skip the thermostats if I want 21 degrees.

Still, maybe in some rooms I would want a different target temp than in other rooms, and then the system doesn't work.

I would really like to be able to set different temperatures for different rooms. I found out today, that the race added by "Moyo-From the depth" has a much lower preferred temperature when sleeping, causing them to constantly complain about sleeping in the heat when the room sits around ~20 degrees Celsius.

Specifically, a Moyo currently prefers between 2C -> 18C while a baseline human prefers 16C -> 26C. I also have an Astoriel here that wants 6C -> 28C, which is why they havn't complained yet, hehe.

If you could control a specific rooms temperature by just setting it in the thermostat, then that would be pretty convenient, so that both air con and radiators could be controlled from the same place. I can also see why making such a significant change to the whole system could be a major pain in the ass though, but would be really useful.

you could create a boiler and plumbing loop just for that race with a thermostat set to low temp in the warmest room, or use electric heaters just for the specific races

Yea, but then you might have to end up doing that for all the edge cases. I don't assume that there are many races which have drastically different comfortable temperatures, but I do know that I have a lot of different races in my playthroughs. I guess this would also apply to creatures, as some modded creatures need some pretty extreme temperatures to even exist.

Making multiple plumbing loops is a bit of a mess though, and costly when using certain mods. Second part is my own fault of course, but seeing as you cannot have separate lines of plumbing cross over each other, it does become a bit tricky.

Only good thing is that I have started making individual housing instead of a more traditional megabase, where all rooms have the same temperature (which could have been problematic). Mainly to make use of the "Open the Windows" mod.

Good thing that I have mods that make colonists keep their beds, so they don't shift their rooms around all the time.

I guess this does also create issues when you have guests over with the Hospitality mod, as you cannot exactly control which rooms the guests stay in... that one is probably impossible to deal with, as you would literally need to adjust the heating every time you get different guests, yikes xD. Then the Hospitality mod author would also have to make the guests check for room temperature when visiting, in order to make that work as well.

Oh right, I totally forgot to mention this, but the Moyo author also provided a tip, where you can apparently make some Moyo specific bionics that change their comfortable temperatures!

i didn't design this to for use with modded races that have weird temperature requirements, wasn't really thing back then, seems over time more and more people get race mods that do weird things, so for having different temperatures in different bedrooms the electric heaters are still best, then maybe radiators for public rooms if those races only care about the comfortable temperature range while sleeping, else you would just have to set your thermostat for a very cold temperature for the whole base and make your humans wear more winter gear
