Ideas & Suggestions
If you have any ideas, feel free to write them down here. This is only the first update and I'm planning at least two more big updates to this Cosmic Horrors mod (and continued support for future alphas).

I believe the "White Ape" (From The Beast in the Cave) may be a fitting enemy, as it's really just an altered man. You could just retexture a human, and apply brawler logic to it. The Frankenstein-esque creatures (From Herbert West - reanimator) might also be another easy addition. Also the Slug-Reptile creatures (From The Nameless City) would make a nice warg retexture. :face:
maybe adding a necromancer who summons skeletons to attack your colony
Nightgaunts, perhaps? Or Dholes? Star Vampires might prove interesting, though perhaps without the invisibility aspect - we'll just assume they just gorged themselves on pirates before going after your colonists.

My ideal vision of Star Vampires in RimWorld is as follows. You are playing your colony, and then suddenly you hear a short tittering sound. Then you find one of your colonists is being gripped by a Star Vampire. You have to act quickly to kill the Star Vampire before it drains your colonist to death. No incident or raid announcement until a colonist is being eaten. The laugh would be the key to pay attention to, so you would be ready for the Star Vampire attack.

Love the mod idea - so much you could do with this.

Monsters are cool but for a true lovecraft feel it needs a subtle edge as well. Something along the lines of poison/psychic ships.
- A cosmic horror descends onto the map, slowly driving everyone mad while it just sits there gloating until you manage to defeat it.
- While mining, desperate for steel, you come across an ancient brick wall. What could be buried so deep?
If you need some ideas for more factions, how about a group of hostile cultists belonging to the "Esoteric Order of Dagon". They could be aligned with Innsmouth and the Deep Ones, and might have Deep Ones join them in their raids. Other factions consisting of cultists could include the "Brothers of the Yellow Sign" and such. Said cultists could have aid of their, such as from summoned (off-map of course) Fire Vampires who's sole duty are to burn down your defenses, to hordes of enslaved ghouls who will rush your colonists to both distract and absorb the blunt of their gunfire, and perhaps even tamed - yet ever fearsome - Gnoph-Keh to tear apart whatever poor soul should happen to be in their way

Other monstrosities and races to doom our poor colonists and tribals with could include the Serpent Men, Chthonians, Elder Things, and Moon-Beasts.
How about the Great Race of Yith in an event that "borrows" the conciousness of a colonist, making them temporarily (random amount of time?) useless while the Great One studies their culture?

That sounds doable. I'll add it to the list.

I'll take a look at them. I should add in the Elder Things, but I think they wouldn't be hostile, so I'm not adding in any neutral cosmic races yet until I'm happy with the brutal monsters, first. It is not entirely off the table though!

Any plans to do the elder gods themselves? I'd love to face off against Cthulu
Ryoma  [δημιουργός] 22 Σεπ 2016, 7:02
I do plan on Cthulhu, Dagon, and maybe Shub-Niggurath being utilized in the game. Dagon is, as far as I can tell, an oversized Deep One that mainlanders worship. However, Cthulhu would be a game ending event, I'm quite sure. So I'm saving his development for last in the project because he's so pivotal to be done correctly, y'know?
How about some new traits and backgrounds? First few have a very brief description, rest are just name suggestions:

Innsmouth Look: Gives a social bonus when talking with other people with this trait, and a negative one when talking with people without it.

Ghoulification: You've done some questionable... things, and are now beginning the lengthy transformation into a ghoul. Severe social/negotiating penalty, but you have no qualms about seeing corpses, butchering them and/or consuming them.

Eldritch Savant: Gain a mood bonus when butchering (aka studying) the corpses of various monsters.

Holder of the Trapezohedron: You have once held the Shining Trapezohedron, and for a terrible price, gained eldritch knowledge. Increased learning speed, but reduced sanity.

Former Cultist, Follower of Nyarlathotep, Rats in the Walls?, etc...

Yes! More traits and backgrounds are always welcome.
Fantastic Mod. I think your spot on about cthulhu and any of the Elder gods, you need to keep there appearence at a minimum as they should destroy/send everything insane and end the game. I would like to see in the future - Dark Young of Shub-Niggurath, Hound(s) of Tindalos and Nightgaunts. You could also change the Pirate faction to a Cultist Faction.
