I awaken with a start. My thoughts return to me as the blaring sirens fill my ears. The blinking red lights speaking to me. "Last chance" They tell me. I freeze briefly, starting to the other sarcophagi. I consider, using my last moments to save them. These others deserve their chance, what is one life for these countless numbers? The ship disagrees with my choice. The dull, scraping sound of metal echoes throughout the room. I see lights in a distant room, escape pods. Three left. I run towards them, and I slam the ejection button on two others within their cryptosleep chambers. I grab one of their arms in each of mine, and haul them to their feet. I no longer look back.

Finally, I reach the pod. What felt like an infinite space was over in a matter of seconds, as this ship soon shall be. I launch, aimed with the others by the computer, sending us together to a site, the details of which I will hopefully live to see. A painful rending sounds before it sends me to the vacuum. I see the ship, silent now, slowly fall apart...

Somehow, through some force, I manage to open my eyes again. I blacked out from the g-force of the pod, nearly dying. My new compatriots don't even have time to introduce themselves after leaving the escape pods. One opens her mouth, but is interrupted by a block of the ship slamming down only 20 yards from me. From the screaming, it sounds to have been what was a prisoner transport.

Another crash, this one is accompanied by a mass of explosions. It was once an armory, now, I'm sure most of the weapons and ammunitions have long since detonated in the fires.

Another, I watch a pantry catch the flames, our only source of food burning like a festival pyre.

Another, coming down quick. Detritus of electrical equipment falls before it, likely an engine or reactor. It's coming for me. I freeze, unable to escape my fate. I hear a voice, and someone hits me with the full weight of their body. Blackness overtakes me.
