FU Quality of Life thread
Simple: What sorts of things would make life a bit easier / better in FU? Let's hear them ideas.

This is not a "cool stuff" thread, but rather , things to improve what exists.

Played around with item networks lately (CAT version). Might have to test some more, but so far it's a big step towards automation.

It would be nice if the incinerator had an item network input node. Then again, maybe make that a separate "wired incinerator" with a large warning in the item description.

wired incinerator sounds dangerous.
so long as it dosent get up and turn my ship into a well done crème brulee im happy with just setting it up on a "junk" bin. now if only i can get over my crippling hording issues.

While its fresh in my mind, here is an example of my dungeon idea, so lets say there is switches A B C D E and F and secret rooms 1 2 3 4 and 5 and to open room 1 you need switches ADE to open 2 you need BEF 3 - DF 4-C 5-ACDF so opening room 5 means that room 4 will close because the correct combination is not there for 4 even though it only requires switch C but in the activation of the other switches to open room 5 forces room 4 to seal it self.

well, thats confusing without diagrams. cant even make sense of what you mean :)

basically a combination lock that opens many doors but only one door at a time....i think
How about a giant scented apiary? The fps drop from the bee spawns gets to be a little much to deal with and two frames in a scented would be nice to have. I would probably use other frames instead of just the same 2/3 every playthrough.
Reinstalled Starbound and started playing again, and decided to give Frackin a try. Absolutely LOVING it so far! Incredible job! The amount of content you have created is staggering...

So I created my frist little light drone, which I love. Unfortunately, my bobbing little light source seems to think he's a complete badass, and charges in full throttle whenever an enemy presents itself. Almost every time it ends up getting blown to dust. Now I'm sad. I have to carry around four just to keep spares handy. And often four aren't enough...

Is it possible to make the light drone passive? I will gladly trade the meager shot the drone has for 100% passivity. All my light drones ever accomplish in combat is a suicide mission... It makes me sad.
Sayter  [developer] Jul 26, 2017 @ 6:08am
He won't be passive no but you should build a servitor bot loader from your bot section as it allows you to turn him into a pet
Oh yes, the servitor loader is a must. I still have to carry around 4 of those pet balls, as the little drone thinks it can take on the world. Makes it much less useful. It should provide light, not fire support. :) Wish I could take its little blaster away, maybe it would think twice before jumping the next monster we see.

I'm sure as I progress light won't be as much of an issue, but for me it's the aesthetic of deploying a light drone. I love it. It feels "cooler" than just slapping in a light augment. Just hate that it doesn't behave like a light drone would, imho. It shouldn't be a combatant. It should essentially be a floating flashlight. :) But maybe that's ultimately a limitation of the game code? That you can't deploy a little follower like that and it be passive?

I could. It is annoying, I'll concur

Captured lumoths with the passive collar make the best non-combatant light drones. It's why I didn't build actual light drones, much as I like the idea, as I figured they probably couldn't be rendered passive.

Passive collar does the trick

Hey, just wanted to prefix this comment with. I bought starbound like two weeks ago solely because I found this mod and I have not regretted it one bit! I'm in love.

My first suggestion: (sorry if it's already been said, did not read through all 58 pages) Is it possible that the ITD could have a round-robin mode or have it keep a certain amount in the inventory? An example for it's use would be, say I have 12 Hydroponics Trays and I have 2000 Healing water, it would be really neat if I could set it up to "Put it in the second slot of every tray round-robin" or "put one in each inventory" This way I can evenly distribute out my resources. The same would apply for mulch, or say if I have a few centrifuges and want to distribute the load evenly.

My second suggestion: Is it possible to have a thing that autocrafts. It does not have be super advanced and do multiple steps etc maybe something like the Storage Bridge that goes next to a crafting station that has an input and output. You click on it and it shows you the recipes of the station, you select one. From there on, if the crafting ingredients for the selected item are put into it, it will autocraft them to the selected recipe. For example, put this device next to the Assembler and choose Copper Wire, then whenever copper is put into it, it will autocraft into copper.

Edit: Have been reading the past comments and it appears that an Autocrafter, no matter how simple is not something doable. Sorry for the repeat request.

If either of these ideas have been suggested already, sorry for the repeat. Anyways, this mod is awesome, keep up the good work!
