Liquid Aether?
I'v been hunting this substance for some time, since the first time I saw it in all this time playing FU. The friend I was playing with mentioned using Aether for something, and I stop her right there and go.. "Wait wait what? What the heck is Aether? Never heard of it, unless you mean Aether dust?"

Then she showed me her 75 units of liquid aether. She couldint remember specificly where she found it, said it might have been a shadow or atropus world.

I'v been scouring the universe sinse, looking for this strange, starry/nebula liquid, explored star systems of all types, explored what feels like hundreds of planets now, and I have yet seen a drop of this liquid.

Is Liquid Aether even something this mod adds? If so, where can I usually find this?

Yes Aether is from FU. Personally I also don't really know where to find it myself. However if you really need to know try poking around the Github data. It has everything that FU adds, and smart usage of the search function can usally answer any question.

Just search using an item's ingame name to find the ID used in the coding. There will always be a file which has the ingame name (how else would the game know what to call it?), and the same file should list its other name. Then look for results which deal with biomes or world gen and you should be able to find where it appears.

I thought you could only download the github version, this is good to know! I'll try that, thank you Bob!

Searching for that seems to indicate it dosint really...appear...anywhere?
This is what im looking at.

{
"itemName" : "liquidaether",
"rarity" : "Common",
"inventoryIcon" : "aethericon.png",
"shortdescription" : "Aether",
"description" : "Strange black liquid. Feels dry. It appears to react with lava.",

"liquid" : "liquidaether",

"price" : 5
}

Other results mentioned dust and pillars, but I didint see anything related to biomes.

According to terrestrial_worlds.config.patch, you can find the liquid with the id liquidaether in penumbra and lightless regions.

and you can see it from orbit around a planet before even travelling there. On the nav-map the round planet graphic will have a starry liquid. Pretty easily identified

Than i must have extremely terrible luck so far, hah! Thanks for the pointers guys, i'll continue my search tonight.

Liquid Aether I have seen many times through my travels through the stars. You just have to keep looking. It should also be noted that liquid aether turns into aether dust upon contact with lava.

Ive ran into it only once.

Ive ran into 2 aether ocean planets, and I built a base on one.

I made this topic before FU released Aether ocean planets, so you know.

I personally have found Aether in Elder biomes a couple of times.
Since the aether ocean planet release, I still have to find one of these. :)

i built my base on an aether ocean right after they got released, so i got the world before they replaced sandstorms with insanity storms, it was pretty lucky. just look around black stars, aether seas are rare and need both poison protection and have no air.

Aether is relatively uncommon on planets around black stars . I've seen 4 planets so far in about 40 star systems, and all of them were black stars
Sayter  [developer] Nov 2, 2016 @ 7:57pm
Yea, but Black Stars also are the only place to find Aether Seas. Needless to say, thats what you want.

@Sayter
Hey, I have an odd question. Is the "Shadow Tainted" debuff a finished thing, or is it supposed to make that black cloud? I have found it when stepping in aether liquid, and there doesnt seem to be a curative for it, or... even anything to block it. It is kind of annoying, especially since on Aether planets, I cant SEE anything past the surface.

read the change notes. Ways to counteract it were listed. People never seem to read those. I don't type them up for fun ! You have a few armors and a plant you can consume.

You could also just light a bright light. That'll kill the negative impact, if not the effect itself.
