but man, what a hell of confusion, after I fixed the portal for the outpost, nothing else made sense, I couldn't warp science outpost, and i dind't find the ftl drive recipe, I stayed years to progress to nothing, this update made it difficult much
this update makes virtually everything you just listed quite simple if you read the information you are given.
- You are told when/how to warp to the science outpost right away
- the FTL drive recipe is directly mentioned to you when you complete the intro and talk to esther for the first time, including where to research it..
- the research tree itself tells you how it works and where to craft it within the nodes
- its also listed in the Codex.
rushing sounds like it was the problem. You need to actually read the information we present you with. That's why its there, dude!
You cannot possibly have almost everything unlocked immediately. There is over 1.2 million research required to max the tree, and you get 1 per second at the start. The cheapest branch is 50 research, and the average at the game start is about 200-400 per node.
Note - I play FU combined with Elithian Alliance & Shellguard (Which has lengthy missions that go up to T10- which is a great deal of passive research sources. I imagine my thoughts might be different if I hadn't gained a good 25k research points playing shellguard.)
The one place I've found myself getting stuck at, is right at the entry point of T4 armors. (The Durasteel Armor&Weapons unlock).
Unlocking it requires Advanced Alloy weapons&Armor which requires all three of Zerchesium/Protocite/Penumbrite and their respective geology unlocks. Progression stalled for me here first for missing sufficient research and then just trying to find all pieces of the puzzle while stuck in T3 armor.
It's not overwhelming, but it's a bit of a point where things have gotten a touch sticky in the progression that has otherwise been very smooth. I'm guessing the intent might be to use another part of the tree to compensate for armor at this point?
that chokepoint is a bit nasty, but its not different from the others. Im actually okay with it, since it effectively nudges players out to look at penumbra, proto and other biomes and actually explore. But yea, I'm considering an adjustment or two in that exact place.
Craftsmanship tree. cant miss it, since the icon is a spinning wheel
Oh man... i searched for 2 hours and it was right there :D Thanks a lot Sayter. Good work on this Mod!
