Solar Panel Changes?
It seems like solar panels have been changed where artificial lighting doesn't cut it anymore. Or maybe there's something different that I'm not amending? The panels on my ships don't work, and the ones I have on my bases only light up during the day despite artificial lighting being present.

They've been like this for months. Solar panels *require* solar energy. Artificial Light will not provide sufficient power. This was an exploit/cheat that was corrected.

Alright, thank you for the response! Sorry, I literally haven't played Starbound in months so I wasn't sure how things were working now. I can fix up my setups so that those panels are working right.

Would be nice if solar panels placed on ship( world)s would produce power depending on the class of the orbited star and the amount/type of transparent/missing background blocks (or: trace a line towards the top of the map - any obstructions = no/less power).

When I put some solar panels on the outer hull of my BYOS ship, I found the power output to be lacking.

yes. because there is no sun there, by the games reasoning. You're encouraged to use more viable means of energy production such as fission, quantum , etc.

So if i want to produce power on my ship, the only way is to use fulled energy producer?
You can use Solar Panels to get power on your ship, but it has to be in a section with large windows, and you shouldn't expect much power input.
