Starbound

XS Mechs - Vehicle Edition
Nick1.0 Jul 24, 2016 @ 12:16pm
Does not work in Multiplayer
The Mechs are available in Penguin Petes shop in Singleplayer. But as soon as I host my own Server to play with a friend (has the mod also(same problem)), the Mechs dissapeared from the Shop. What can I do to prevent this?

you need to download the non-workshop version and unzip it in your starbound/mods folder

for some reason workshop mods dont seem to run with dedicated server

If I may, there is another work around that you can do without having to download the mods again. If you can locate where the workshop mods are, you can copy and paste the PAK files into your mods folder. They work the same, jsut don't forget to rename copied pak files so you can organize them easily.

Does the possibility exist that the developers fix this problem in the near future? Because some mods work and some don't.

All is work for me. Tested with friend on private server
works perfectly fine in MP if you use the non-workshop download on the starbound forums, is it really that unusual for a dedicated server to take a bit more effort than a listen server?

I actually have a better method of fixing workshop for dedicated servers, however you will need steam installed on your machine capable of using the starbound workshop for this to work as you will NOT be moving files from workshop into the "mods" dir.

You are going to want to browse too "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound\win64" or where ever you have steam download Starbound too and edit "sbinit.config"

By default it looks like this-
http://pastebin.com/7PDXtF8q

This is what it should look in order include workshop directory's (you may need to change the directory path depending on drive letter used though!)
http://pastebin.com/QQ1TJnJB

Done!
You will now notice that it has picked up the assets from workshop direcotory aswell and you no longer need to move files around for LAN or Hosting Dedicated

Welcome!

I had the same problem and ended up explicitly specifying the load order on the server to match what the starbound.log on the client was showing and then everything started working properly (mechs showing up at penguin shop).
