Thanks for the tip. I tried the older Dynamic Combat Ops missions that have been discontinued and client-side targeting works correctly there. It seems like something has changed in DRO between then and now that is causing the targeting issues.
For now I'll try fiddling around with the mission files to narrow down where the issue may be, but I'm not exactly a programmer so it's gonna be a lot of trial and error. I hope we can get it fixed and working because none of the other random mission generators come close to DRO for my group.
In sunday_system/player_setup/setupPlayersFaction.sqf, lines 513, 627, 749 and 869 use the sun_setPlayerGroup function, and in the release build they're set to
Switching them back to remoteExec makes target lock work for all connected clients, instead of just the host machine. Hopefully it doesn't cause further issues (I am certainly not a programmer), but it's how it was set up in previous releases so I've got my fingers crossed. The four things changed were:
Edit: Ahahahah dang, just read the top of this page and how remoteExec was causing some other problems, and I'm definitely running into the issue now where I'm occasionally invincible. Hopefully someone can use this info to fix the target lock problem without reintroducing old bugs.
Edit2: I just commented out line 812 that set allowDamage to false with helicopter insertions and I seem to be able to both target vehicles and die when I get shot at by the friends of said vehicle. I probably broke something else but at least now it's not immediately obvious.
Just did an hour-long mission with some friends and targeting worked for everyone, man-portable AT, aircraft targeting pods, and drones lasing targets for CAS pilots to lock on to. No invincibility bugs either, so it looks like we're golden.
Tested on Altis, Livonia and Chernarus Winter maps. Normal factions worked fine for me.
I can't find much on this except other people posting pretty much the same thing without much answers. I'd like to know which settings I need to set to make DRO work with ACE Medical properly, because that seems to be the problem.
We really want to play DRO + ACE but it seems not possible right now. We've tried overiding mission with ace medical settings but it doesn't seem to work.
ACE works fine in SP, so it seems like a respawn issue.
Check if the Revive option is enabled in the mission setup! It automatically enabled itself for me and i have to disable it for each map individually when setting up
That seemed to work now! I kind of feel dumb for not noticing this!
Thanks =)
Glad i could help!
Currently, units heal themselves fine, but won't heal anyone else.
The server runs the following mods (I've got those mods and more on my game when I play solo and it works fine):
-@Virolahti - Valtatie 7
-@Tembelan Island
-@Advanced Rappelling - Reworked;
-@CUP Terrains - Maps
-@Advanced Urban Rappelling
-@CUP Terrains - CWA
-@CUP Vehicles;@CUP Units
-@CUP Terrains - Core
-@CUP Weapons
-@CBA_A3
Try and use only DRO without mods, if that works just fine, then the problems is your load order.
Before sending this answer I did another test, I restarted my server with the mods mentionned above (and the load order should not have changed) and things seemed to be working the way they should. I have no idea what's happening but I'll accept it. Thank you for your time Aqua.
I assume that you wore the same armor and got shot by the same weapon from the same range at the same spot.
Let one of your friends host the game and test for consistency.
Another point, do you use any other mods than "CBA_A3" and "ACE3"? If yes, try and remove them, test again. If that fixes the problem, try adding one mod after the other and do tests every time. Also, check if your load order is right.
