Locutus of Borg Event
This is a new Borg event with the recent upgrades adding in new missions and events from Picard as well as other series. The problem is, there seems to be no way to succeed. I hit the incoming Borg cube with a very large fleet, it was simply destroyed immediately, going from 50K to 3K in less than a few seconds. Not even the Planet Killer did that. Has anyone beaten this event?

I am wondering if it is trying to recreate Wolf 359 where any fleet sent against it is massacred and then the only way to defeat it is by letting the cube orbit the homeworld (like the it did in The Best of Both Worlds) then having Locutus somehow kidnapped and forced to make the cube explode. There is an early event, where you can try to rescue Locutus, but I have not succeeded at that and the event just said the boarding party was lost.

That's an interesting premise you have here.

Another thread was started which explained you have to engage the Borg three or four times, where they completely wipe out the attacking fleet, before a new policy is available known as Borg countermeasures. Apparently after this, the Borg become easier to kill. I have not gotten to that point yet and will have to reply a few turns since my entire fleet was wiped out on the first assault.

I just played the event last night as the dominion. I had read this thread only hours before the event popped up in my game so I panicked as the cube had a course set straight to the Founder's home world.

The year was around 2350 for me and I already had several decked out star bases around my dominion due to past wars that didn't even lauch a fighter against the borg cube when it showed up before they were blasted to bits and pieces.

I called all my Jem'hadar soldiers back to the home world to defend the founders. By the time the borg showed up, there were several fleets with a combined power of about 360k waiting.

I had read some posts about the borg before and understood they used a lot of armor so I had prioritized armor damage in my research queues.

I engaged the borg expecting to lose, so I had even started the mega structure of moving the founder home world. To my surprise, my fleets defeated the the cube with very minimal losses. All my anti armor weapons seemed to have worked. The armor melted like butter and my assault cruisers lopped anti-hull torpedo at it until it blew up.

I lost a scicne officer and several battleships, but victory is life and we indeed lived through the encounter.

I will say it is annoying that while the cube was moving through my territory, the Cardassians, Breen and Ferengi did absolutely nothing even though they are my vassals. They all have equal ship strength and would have expected they come to my defense, but they just ignored the cube.

so my advice is anti-armor and anto-hull weapons with lots of ships for cannon fodder.

That's what it takes to survive a Borg assault: the willingness to endure a lot of casualties; and that would be frustrating that your vassals betrayed you like that... I might incorporate them immediately to gain the resources I can from them in reprisal, exactly what the Founders, especially Odo, would do in that case!
