Form the United Federation of Planets Event discussion
Okay lets talk about this, best stratgies and what the plans for this going forward.

I just determined that the whole event can blow up in your face if you can't get a Coalition to form because you have a race that won't vote for it, and you can't kick them out.

Suggestions?

As for going forward, I like the idea of other races intergrating in after the UFP forms, just like they do in the real ST.

Thanks for this mod and this specific events, even with its faults.

If you check out the Star Trek New Horizons thread on the Paradox forums I've uploaded a modified script that allows you to fully integrate members and founders so you gain control of all their stations and planets and they are fully integrated into the Federation without being left as member world's being able to colonise world's outside the control of the main Federation. I've also included a 10 year penalty to counteract the bonuses this would create when forming the Federation.
form the federation...does it work in multiplayer? and what happened if two player are in federation?
Has anyone had much success adding "new members" in 0.8 after you've already formed the federation? The only way I've peacefully added any AI owned systems has been through vassal integration. I haven't seen any events crop up to add members who I'm high relation with. Protectorates still seem to need to reach that 40% tech threshold where they become vassals, so I can't add them without waiting forever for their tech to catch up. Everybody joins coalitions asap and then you can't vassalize them after that. Can't seem to extend membership to coalition allies either.
This mod desperately needs to make it easier for the federation to add new members after the formation event, with vassilization requirements and ai coalitions it seems like it is totally out of the players control after the initial event.
Never mind. it seems I have overlooked the new options to form through forming coalitions
:D

What do you think of the new approach? Are there any improvements you'd like to see?
Spent over a grand of influence on low-mid intensity negotiations with one nation and nothing happens. No progress bar, no visible cue about how much progress has been done and how long/much it'll take to get something done. So while the negotiation options show different numbers, there are no reports on current status of those values or what even they mean really in those negotiations and ascension status. A bit of clarity would go a long way to make this new federation joining mechanism user-friendly. Also, influence cost of those negotiations with no end in sight is a bit too much, especially since it's hard to come by as UFP (not much use for rivalries and such)

Zetto - we can't actually include the % progress in the localisation until Paradox add that function... but I did have an idea on how to give players some feedback here. I'll make some changes tonight.

What would you feel would be the appropriate influence cost? I'm tempted to make all the "low intensity" options free, and to use 100 influence for mid and 250 influence for high. Would this be better?
Well, here's to hoping that Paradox does introduce that feature in the next major patch. I did finally figure out that there's some indication of progress but it's rather hidden in the unexplained points listed against each % chance in negotiations that increase from one negotiation to the next. Am I correct in assuming that once I get 100 points of, well, negotiations, the ascension is initiated?

I totally agree with 0 influence for low intensity (maybe bump up the mat/energy cost instead). 100 and 250 for mid/high sounds fair. I’m sure by beta you’ll figure it out how to balance it but yeah, this is a nifty mechanic and makes the game different, more interesting, particularly once you get to figure it out lol, it was a steep learning curve. It was my 1st playthrough after it was introduced, after all :)

Had a Coalition with Vulcans, Tellarites and Andorians for nearly 50 years and had no Federation Event, bug? Or am I missing something?
Seems like a bug. I assume you were the UE? You used standard settings and no other mods? There were no other members in your coalition?
Love the work you guys put into this mod, t's the reason I still play Stellaris - Thank You!

I was playing for quite a while last night and had a few observations after forming the Federation. Sorry if some of this is duplicated.

1 - Federation vassal members seem to do nothing after the formation. I see them with a construction ship in a system and they seem to build, then tear down an outpost. This repeats over and over. They don't seem to do anything else.

2 - Love the mechanic for integrating new members. It seems to take a really long time though, maybe that's for balance and realism. It could be, as discussed above, that I just don't clearly see the progress.

3 - I saw no way to fully integrate the vassals into the empi... err Federation >:)

4 - I had a very large opinion hit for the vassals due to relative power. I'm not sure there is anything that can be done about that since it's probably coming from the base game.

Again, GREAT mod, totally feels like a different game (and that's a really good thing).

There is no way to fully integrate them. This is intentional. The rest are subject to fine-tuning :)
Is there any point to the "Transfer System" option when brokering a deal with founder worlds?
Let's say, give back P'Jem to Vulcan?
