If this mod had NSC support (I don't use it myself but it's an idea) you'll have extra classes to play around with.
Dude, they're working on new classes.
This is the first I've heard of this...though this is a good thing, NSC has an odd collection of classes, like carriers and such...

...Have you watch or read Star Trek?

Star Trek have
Cruiser.
Dreadnought.
Escort Cruiser.
Destroyer.
Corvette.
Research Shuttle.
Light Carrier (A Cruiser with a bigger hangar.)
Carrier (A refitted Galaxy-class)

The only dreadnought i know is the Excalibur class.

We don't need NSC support to have more ship classes. We already have seven highly diverse and distinct ship classes, far more distinct than vanilla or NSC.

Carriers are very rare in the Federation, only really appearing in the STO video game as a dedicated class, but as we know, none of that is canon, and in the Prime timeline as far as we know there are no dedicated Dreadnought classes, they've only appeared in alternate timelines thus far, I do not count the Dreadnoughts as seen in TOS as they seem to be Dreadnought only in name and not firepower.

Cruisers make up literally 80% of Starfleet, Escort cruisers, less, as they were seen as a more military style ship Starfleet did not invest in them until after the Dominion war, the Defient being one such ship, Corvettes are already in the game, no idea why you listed them here, and Destroyers...research shuttles sounds exactly the same as science ships.

I have watched Star Trek, I follow the lore that makes sense, so I ignore certain ships, the Galaxy class did not get any new ships after the Dominion War, they were used as command ships due to their price...

Yeah, the alternate time line Excalibur- Dreadnought.

The Excalibur is canon? I thought it was just fan art like the Polaris class.
Harel May 21, 2017 @ 6:08am
It's not canon, no.

But you guys got it on Sin Of Solar Empires :C

Colonel, I think you might be confusing us with another modding team.

Regardless of the Excalibur existence in other mods, it is not canon. A nice looking ship, mind you, but still not canon.
Max May 21, 2017 @ 7:55am
Do vanilla events occur? Just curious.

Whoops, my apologize, wrong team but they advertise your mod on their page on Moddb, hahaha.

Since that powerhouse isn't canon, what is the closest canon starfleet vessel to the "Dreadnought" classification of ship? Apart from the Galaxy-X class seen in an alternate reality.

Well I mean getting back to the different types of ships. Shuttles, Cutters, Frigates, Destroyers, Light Cruisers, Heavy Cruisers, Battle Cruisers, Dreadnaughts, Battleships. Some of these have variants like scout, escort, fast, command, carrier, old, new, advanced, and some others I probably haven't heard of. And then of course this can be different depending on your sour source for what you think star trek is or should be. Paramount, CBS, and Amarillo Design Bureau have had the longest influence on star trek in its official star trek and star fleet forms. I feel like star trek is one of the worst run IPs ever and deserves better video games, anyhoo whats the point? I guess I'm just happy that this mod is out there, and I have my own feelings about what ship types and whatnot should be in the game, but I'm perfectly fine with the developers doing what they think its best.
Harel May 21, 2017 @ 2:06pm
There isn't one, Hellriser.
