Spore Drive
Is there a way to make the spore drive not fail? AKA. Is there a way to get the tardigrade so I can make longer succcesfull jumps?

-sorry for anny gramatical mistakes, english is not my primary language.

This would actually make for an effective event chain, with variations on an improved spore drive (longer jumps, quicker cool down, or no failure, etc) as a possible reward...

There's already such an event chain. It's just not easy to find :)

And that is why I love this mod... =p

What is a "spore" drive?
firespark84 Jan 5, 2019 @ 6:49pm
Its the drive from the discovery series and in the game it functions like a jump drive
http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Spore_drive
as for the event I got it once before. It was called desprate times and it fired right after a short war I had but i cant recreate it for some reason

Oh.........It's from *that*. I'm sorry, *that* is *not* Star Trek. I'll be on my way.

Edit Note: Removed a few choice words, and streamlined it to make my point without trying to attack. Won't hide my utter hatred of everything about it though.

When did stuff from STD get added? Was loving this mod until I've become aware that Not Trek was added to it since the last time I played it and I guess it has been that long. Nearly everything in it breaks established canon and I'd be surprised if it makes it past this next season considering CBS went with a pay to watch but we'll arbitrairly set different episode runtimes model. Radically different ship designs for something set 10 years before TOS, Klingons are only a sock puppet for topical political hate, constant bickering among the crew, it's just a mess.

Yea the ships looks out of place, and break the immersion.

I plan on releasing a Sub-Mod (Safe Sex Version I.E STD Free) once the new patch comes out.

well I mostly agree with you I would at least like to know if anyone does how the event triggers. we can discuss opinions of std in another thread

I certainly don't. I didn't even bother building the Crossfield. I tried like hell to retire it and was about to make a post complaining how I couldn't and if it was a bug seeing as I could retire everything else. Then I unlocked the Excellsior and never looked back.

I agree and apologies, it was just the first mention I'd seen of the addition in the forums for the mod. Any event trigger should be viewable from the event files themselves, though. Same type of files as any paradox game using this engine.

thank you for the tip on the event files after a lot of searching I finaly found the file. a note for the devs after finding the tardigrade it give a 150% warp speed buff yet no buff to jump range. im not sure if this is intended. any response would be greatly appreciated

It makes sense though from a balance-standpoint. Jumping superfar with a fleet of spore-drive fit vessels would be a bit OP...

The ship by itself is not that powerful and can become obsolete quickly as well as the fact that the tardigrade would only be available to the discovery, not any of its sister ships. the warp improvement is a big help though, as the spore drive only gives a 5% to warp speed boost while the first teir exploration drive gives 125%
