Timeframe for Species 8472 crisis?
Love this mod! Been playing for a while and I'm late into the 24th century (2377 or so) and I have not gotten the Species 8472 crisis yet. Is there a trigger for it I should be aware of?

(I have destroyed the Borg so I hope that didn't cut off that event chain...)

Hah, yeah that cuts them out. 8472 is a reaction event to the Borg getting too strong at the moment.

So basicly you made it so if the Borg start getting to strong 8472 kicks them in the knees. Im okay with that hahaha

in that case were the borg strengthened at all in 0.9.2a? in my current game and all my games for that fact the borg are little more then cannon fodder for the species around them

So does that mean we don't have a real end game crisis unless the borg are defeated by 8472?

That actually is completely logical and sensible. Borg were too weak in my game so I decided to put them out of their misery, but excited to see your future plans for them!

I'm still on my first playthrough of this amazing mod and the Borg have taken out every single Delta Quadrant race save for one vassal—which seems a bit un-Borglike—and one neighbor: the Krenim Imperium. They also seem to have have conquered or colonized a path nearly 3/4 of the way to the Romulan Empire along the spiral arm inwards of the Empire. Almost as if they're making a beeline for my juicy, densely-populated Mega-UFP.

nice JD, ive done 4 play throughs now and each time the borg are decimated and actually the now that i think of it the dominion in only 1 game was even a moderately powerful empire... in all 4 game though the Romulans get extremely powerful extremely fast

In my experience - even when the borg are successful they tend to stop (usually after taking out most of the delta quadrant powers). Sometimes 100+ years without a peep out of them. I usually end my games at that point as my empire has become equal to or greater than them.

I do cheat for the AI in the beginning. I usually max out the borg and dominion minerals/energy and influence plus half that for the AQ/BQ powers that I'm not playing. I also give them periodic top ups as the game goes on.

Even with the additional buffs the Dominion rarely gets going. Last two games I even console cheated to add a lot of class O planets into their domain and just outside their borders and they barely even utilize those.

I figured the Romulans would become a threat so I ended up befriending them while subsuming every single potential ally of theirs that I could find. My policy of containment worked to keep them "in the green" with me until my borders had completely encapsulated theirs and their strength was Inferior to mine. Oddly, despite the border tension malus, they're still "green" with me. I'm going to try another playthrough with the new patch and see what develops this time around.

what aggression and difficulty levels are you playing on? when i set mine to high aggression and hard difficulty it is without exageration impossible (playing UFP always) doesnt matter i do how many times i restart to make sure i have an exceptional home system the cardassians and romulans out strip my fleet strengths by vast vast multiples..... last go around by the time i got a 3k fleet they had 30k fleets. at a complete loss on how to compete with them on high aggression.

on hard difficulty normal aggression i have no issues rolling them up though.

Yeah the borg are far too weak for them to ever trigger 8472, I figured Dimensional Breach Warp Drives would cause 8472. In my current game the Delta Quadrant Races have entirely wiped out the borg by the year 2285 (I'm playing as Klingon, UFP has also been basically eliminated). This is on just normal settings.

Expect Borg to be improved substantially when we make them playable!

Is there a console command in existance to trigger 8472 without the Borg getting too strong? For those of us with Borg being conquered too early?
walshicus Apr 4, 2017 @ 5:06am
Hmm, well I'd need to make some changes to that it will work without the Borg. I guess ideally we'd want a small event chain to allow players to make the same mistakes the Borg did.
