How can a research paper be lost?
Loads of ways. Fire, zzzt, lightning, explosions, deterioration, raiders burning your stuff, etc. That said, it's not necessarily meant to be a difficult mod, as these incidents tend to be quite rare in a well-managed library.

Can we make multiple papers as backups?
No, rimworld doesnt support researching the same research twice.

Considering filled bookcases already speed up research in vanilla, does that mean researching can directly boost future research?
Yes, that's correct. You get a small free boost in research speed, but in return you also risk losing research. We feel like that compensates nicely.

Why do the colonists read the papers for fun?
We based our decision to allow recreational reading on the vanilla way schematics work, which become recreational intelligence boosters after being researched. In our mod however, schematics turn into research papers after finishing, so we felt it made sense to carry over that mechanic from schematics to cause as minimal change as possible to the way things already work.

Can you trade research papers?
We decided against trading research papers, considering schematics already fill the role of purchasable research, and we didn't wanna deal with infinite money methods and such by selling them.

Can you get research papers from quests?
No, this role is already filled by schematics.

Can you steal research papers?
No, this role is already filled by schematics.

Do I need to craft paper to research?
No, this mod is not meant to affect the process of researching. You just get to make ever-expanding libraries!

Do difficult researches create more papers?
No, 1 paper per research.

How do the papers affect colony wealth?
They don't. The papers are worth $0 each.

Can I add to an existing save?
Yes, it can be added to existing saves, but it will drop every research you already got as a paper on a random research bench (or in the center of the map if you don't have a research bench), so be prepared for that if you got tons of researches finished.

Can I remove from an existing save?
While removing mods from existing saves is never recommended, it seems to be fine after giving a single error.

Does it work with x mod?
Not sure, but you can let us know if it does or doesn't! It's been stable with over 500 mods, though I generally don't recommend combining it with mods that change how research works.

It says it's incompatible with mod x, does that mean it's incompatible?
...yes.
Can I ignore the warning?
No, unless you want a broken game.

How does it work with the archnonexus questline?
To preserve the questline's balancing, research papers cannot be taken to the new colony.

I disagree with how you implemented x, can you change it?
Maybe yes, maybe no.

While we favor simplicity over all, a mod like this one is ripe for changes, additions and alternate ideas, and thus we encourage the creation of patches and add-ons by the community.

Do note that certain ideas you might have, we might also wish to nativize into the base mod, as they could be expectable ways to develop a mod such as this one. Ultimately, external patches generally should never prevent us from further developing the base mod, similar to Ludeon's policy where they'll create whatever DLC they like, regardless of whether a mod already has done it.
