Hearing that enemies are acting more often than normal suggests that somehow the scene is out of sync. The question is why.
For clarity, are you saying you explored the volcano more after killing Drake?
IE: Go to the volcano, play through until Drake, kill Drake, explore the volcano more?
Or was it Kill Drake and leave the volcano. Return to the volcano and explore some more?
As for only attacking Kitsune, that isn't entirely surprising. Several enemies specifically target the weakest party member. That being said, she should get time to react between those attacks so she can run or heal or whatnot...
Any chance you get get a video or screenshots? That would help identify the problem since it isn't something I remember seeing...
I don't even remember what model I used for the nadas... But I'd bet that's what it is.
I did kill Drake then go back and fight the nagas. The second one, the gold naga is the one that attacks until we're both dead or kills Kitsune and almost kills Jake. I do have a save from right before i fought the second naga, I could get a video too if I knew a good way.
I haven't recorded or streamed anything in a while, but when I did I used OBS studio.

That being said, a video is probably unnecessary. I'm pretty sure the problem you are seeing is related to the persistence logic. I probably never fully addressed someone exploring more after defeating Drake. :(
Relatively certain that drake, and the nagas each had their own independent control variables. Drake was booleans, but I think the nagas was an integer... I don't believe there was any special combat scripts on them... They were tough though. Basilisks... That's the model. I wonder if they had the AP damaging gaze still? (Relatively certain I took that away though.). That'd explain the stun lock though.
For some reason I couldn't go to the 4th floor, the option disappeared after I clicked 4th floor from the elevator. It may have explained why, but I missed it.
On the 5th floor I ran into an issue where if the drones got near a transparent wall, I couldn't attack them, but they could attack me. They were on my side of the transparent walls, not behind the walls.
Also, the transition at the bottom middle of downtown that leads to the right for some reason doesn't center the screen on your character after the new screen loads, your camera is way off in the blackness instead, possibly because a fight starts right when you arrive?
Ooh, I beat it, we all ran to the a helicopter, but the ending bugged after that. It showed hamfist twice, then jangadance, then the screen stayed black, but I beat it. :)
Post One
- The guards continued to act is one of those annoying bugs which happens sometimes but we never could nail down the cause.
- Fourth Floor: The first time you click it, you receive a message to the effect of "there is no fourth floor." (Japanese tradition, similar to why the US doesn't have a 13th floor)
- Untargetable drones: another of those bugs which were too tricky to properly fix.
Post Two
Transitions: I seem to remember trying to update that but stopping for some reason...
Incorrect Centering: Another quirk we couldn't quite work out. I think we ultimately determined the map was just too complicated it couldn't reliably process it.
Post Three
Beating it: Congrats!
Dave did an amazing jobs on the endings, but there are a couple scenarios which cause it to bug out...
That being said, I don't think I ever saw the same character display twice. That's interesting!
Can you tell me more about your party when you beat the stage?
How many people were in the matrix at the end? Were there agents in the matrix? Where there drones in the party? Who was in the party?
Hopefully you enjoyed playing!
kitsune and spatter were outside
we had a few summons out in the matrix
I didn't have any drones because I didn't know they were in the game.
I played it until I killed drake a while back and just picked it up again recently.
Are we able to upgrade or equip mercenaries?
I had a lot of trouble with magic users missing a lot
Also, was there a limit on karma? It showed I had 1 karma, and I kept getting messages saying I earned more, but my karma stayed at 1.
Also, after I got rid of the AI in the matrix at the end I earned an action point. I thought that was a strange time to get one. :D
We sneakily added drones. You could unlock them by talking to the kid in the junk yard. I want to say I also tweaked one of the hired runners so that he was actually a rigger... But I can't remember who offhand.
Upgrade - No. That was on my long term wish list, but I never had the chance to add it.
Equip - Yes. If you talked to them you could upgrade their gear but it was a bit flaky and a late add so not tested very thoroughly.
Karma - You had to redeem karma by sleeping. That would increase your karma total. There was no cap, you could grind as much as you wanted.
Huh... Definitely odd that you gained an AP at the end...
I loaded my save before going into Akemi and went to the hotel instead. I got an AP there, so I'm guessing that's why I got an AP at the end of the game. I had an AP I never redeemed.
If I remember right, we were very generous with money at the end of the game, so its not overly surprising you had a lot left over.
Also, in case you didn't notice, the Dark Blade Weapon shop updated its inventory twice as you progressed further, so that was also a money sink
