Vehicles in caravan same speed as on foot
Not sure if this was intended, but there seems to be no difference between vehicles in speed on the overworld map. The only speed difference I could find is in mass/capacity when you carry enough to slow you down.

Not only that, vehicle caravans are the same speed as pawns on foot. Are the vehicles really just there to increase your capacity? If so, what's the point of vehicles like the dirtbike?

And are the off-road descriptions just flavour? I'm in the tundra, during winter, in large hills surrounded by more hilly terrain. But caravans don't seem to be differing in speed whether I send the mule or the prowler.

EDIT: Sometimes (e.g. tundra in winter) cars like the prowler are even slower than pawns on foot somehow. Is this a bug? I even tested without any other mods to make sure it wasn't a conflict in my main save.

Yeah i've noticed this too. The prowler i spent so many resources on is less effective at caravan travel than the horse which self tamed.

In the colony map, the car genuinely goes twice as fast as a horse, evident by its movement speed being 10c/s vs 5c/s. However, the horse has a 160% bonus speed in caravan, so that might be why cars are just so bad on caravans. I hope this wasnt a deliberate design choice, or there is actually no use to vehicles.

Devman pls change :btd6thumbsup:

Car are easier to handle, a lot more durable, carry more stuff and can both be armed or be used as APC keeping pawns safe

So they give more than just movement speed

Encountering the same issue, fellow on a horse is faster than a vehicle, both offroad and on a road. Otherwise mod works great, thank you to the devs! :D

use vehicles seperately. Dont combine them with a normal caravan or you will slow down

how do you send them out without using a caravan though?

It really doesn't make sense, for pratical use, for an on foot or even horse caravan to be the same speed as a vehicle one. Why would we ever choose a prowler or a dirtbike? It is too of a good damn mod for that to stop us, there should be either a fix or at least a mod config for us to change the caravan speed by % or all vehicles.

You can edit many stats of the vehicles in the mod menue of the vehicle framework. But that does not change the logical inconsistency obviously.

If you look at the calculation for the map speed when creating the caravan, it shows that e.g. two pawns sitting in a Roadrunner are counted as not mounted. But you can add two mountable animals, like horses and gain a speedboost each time.

Makes no sense, since the pawns would already be "riding" in the car, but it is a workaround to make mixed caravans.

Preferably would be a fix to make pawns inside a car count as mounted but then there would have to be a speed bonus associated with that, otherweise it would just make the speed worse in the end.

However I dont think vehicles should make animals entirely obsolete for caravans. Cars and trucks should be siginificantly faster on good roads, but on bad roads and open terrain animals should be superior at least for speed if not necessarily for cargo capacity (e.g. Roadrunner has the capacity of like 7 horses, so it might be worth it even in rough terrain, whereas a car or bus is only sensible to use on roads, otherwise horses are better to just transport people.)

I installed this mod just because I thought, "FINALLY, VEHICLES, better world map travel and whatnot", made my first vehicle and ITS SLOWER THAN WALKING ON FOOT, WHAT THE HELL. What is even the point of this mod if it's going to be like this, slower than a pack of animals, is this a bug or what?

If this is by design let me know because that means I can uninstall it.
