Shadow hands underground
I was mining underground when a shadow hand with a white border spawned. No idea what happened, I freaked out and quit the game.

kill deerclops, the hands will spawn whenever you are in the dark underground, until deerclops is slain

in my experience you can make the shadow hands leave if you are near a torch or hold one in your hands, otherwise do as the guy above me said any kill the deerclops to permanently remove them
