there is no way to build a mech casket?
this makes me very sad since i have no idea how to find one now after spending hours researching robot fabrication

You need to wait for an exotic orbital goods trader to have one in stock. Alternatively you could spawn one in with devmode if you don’t mind a little tweaking. :P

There are also mods that you can add a building recipe to them to obtain them without devmode. What I did since it simply makes sense after spending so much time researching to make them. Could probably add a config option for that at some point so player don't have to jump through hoops like I did
