Go to the Stats page and look at the downward thrust. If it is at least 40m/s then you should be OK. You need about 10m/s per G of planet. Make sure you look at that stat loaded.

OK for a 2 G planet, but not a 4 G one. For 4 G it needs to be at least 40 (to be safe).
Are you using Mas/Volume?

One G is 9.8 m/s/s. So you need at least that much acceleration to lift off a One G planet. It's simpler to just round up to 10. It gives you some leeway. Right at it you will move very slow anyway. So as I said before you will want a downward thrust of 10m/s/s for each One G of Gravity the planet has. If you have rear thrust that is greater you can sometimes use that instead. You just need to have enough thrust to move forward a bit and tilt you ship up to use the rear thrust.

yeah playing with cpu and mass as true... thanks for the help looks like i need more blue thrusters or some reds (with either i got room and cpu to spare) :)
