🔭 Reforged Eden 2 (2024)
Updated 10/24/2023.

This is all planned for early to mid 2024 or even later.
Any of this is subject to change.

Reforged Galaxy 2:
  • Vermillion is currently working on Reforged Galaxy 2. This will be a huge overhaul from the ground up and is estimated to have a preliminary release sometime in 2023 2024.
  • This is all work in progress and many plans may change greatly between now and then.
  • You can view some of his current progress and plans for Reforged Galaxy 2 at this link here:
    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2962004771

Reforged Eden 2:
  • I will release Reforged Eden 2 some time after the release of Reforged Galaxy 2, probably sometime in mid 2024 2025. (Yes it's taking longer)
  • Project Eden content such as blocks, devices, etc will all be adjusted to fit within the new balancing and framework of Reforged Galaxy 2.
  • This may mean some things will be removed or change their function. For example I plan to remove player bolter turrets since the Reforged Galaxy 2 cannon turrets will fill the same role.
  • Due to this and the changes listed below for Project Eden, the scenario should be better balanced and consistent.
If you want to help test Reforged Eden 2, there is a preliminary test scenario up here:

Project Eden:
  • When Reforged Galaxy 2 is released, I will discontinue Project Eden as a standalone scenario and instead design it solely for Reforged Eden 2.
It will be kept up as a workshop upload and maintained for severe bug fixes for as long as I am able, but will receive no content updates and will eventually be completely discontinued.

  • Project Eden has been discontinued.

Why I am doing this:
  • There is considerable extra work involved with building the scenario for two different configs (Project Eden's vanilla configs versus Reforged Eden's custom configs).
  • By using the Reforged Galaxy configs, I will no longer have to use scripts and multiple configs to balance the scenario between both vanilla and Reforged configs, saving a lot of time. This has been the source of many imbalances and other issues that have slipped through the cracks into Reforged Eden as even using automated scripts there is still a lot of manual work and steps required.
  • This change will allow me to use Reforged Galaxy items and naming conventions in my missions. No more "Dual Fuel Cell" versus "Large Fuel Pack" confusion for example.
  • Reforged Eden is far more popular than Project Eden, with the overwhelming majority of servers, streams, guides, workshop items, and engagement going to Reforged Eden.
  • I created Project Eden to play with my brother, but as time went on we both found ourselves playing Reforged Eden instead. Ultimately I want to have fun in the game by creating cool stuff for us to explore and fight together. We both enjoy Reforged Eden far more than Project Eden, so that is what I want to focus on going forward.
  • I realize that there are people who enjoy the more vanilla-like experience of Project Eden, and therefor I will keep it up on the workshop as long as I can, but eventually there may be a game update that breaks the scenario in a way that I won't easily be able to fix.
  • In the end, I have to do what make me happy, as I do my best work when it doesn't feel like work. Focusing on Reforged Eden 2 will allow me more time to spend being creative, fixing issues, etc rather than juggling two different sets of configs, naming conventions, missions, etc. The less work it takes me to apply an update, the more time I can spend working on the update itself.

Reforged Eden 1:
  • I will keep Reforged Eden 1 on the workshop.
  • Once Reforged Eden 2 is released, Reforged Eden 1 will just be given bug fixes and such.
  • Eventually there may be a game update that breaks the scenario too much for me to easily fix it, but until then I plan to keep it available as long as I can.

Reforged Galaxy 2 and Reforged Eden 2 will take up a lot of our time to create and properly balance. I am sure there will be growing pains and a lot of adjustments will be needed.
I personally am really looking forward to some of the changes and new additions.

What is Vanilla? Is there anything Other than Reforged Eden?
I'm looking forward to see the fruits of your Focused Efforts on RFE2.

This makes sense. And, while I honestly enjoy what PE adds to vanilla gameplay, and like it just as much as I do RE, I fully understand and support this decision. I can't wait to see what RE2.0 brings!

Question: Is the 2.0 version going to supplant (replace) the current 1.9 version on the workshop, or will it have a separate mod page for subscribing to?

The reason I ask is that mods typically update themselves automatically, and having a game update with sweeping changes while in progress may break a good many things. I personally would like to see it up on a new mod page with a link from the old, so that people can continue their 1.9 games until they are done with them without running afoul of potential problems from an automatic update.

My current RE 1.9 game as an example has around 150 hours in it already, and I plan to continue it for several hundred more. That may or may not extend past the RE 2.0 release date - giving me the choice of when to use 2.0 (for a new game) and finish my old 1.9 game would be great.

RE2 will be a new mod, with a separate workshop page, not a sequel to RE1.9 :steamthis:

You got a Donation Link or something? Me and 3 others are enjoying this Scenario very much and might want to return something. If so, point me to it please. :)

Thank you!
You can find donation info for Vermillion in the PDA. I don't currently accept donations but I do appreciate the kind words.

And I liked infinite number of negative status effects and meds :/
It was funny and challengable. Without that empyrion will lose the part of its atmoshpere and be more like any other typical game.

You'll still have a medical system, it will just no longer be needlessly complex.

My message was about that I like this "needlessly complex" system. It has its charm and fun.
