Total War: ROME REMASTERED

Total War: ROME REMASTERED

Any Tips for Rome?
Having a pretty hard time with them. I can secure Italy pretty quick, but usually Carthage picks a fight very early on and if I am particularly unlucky, Gaul will join in at or around the same time. My troops are way too expensive to train and maintain, and I cant seem to make money fast enough before I get overwhelmed just by sheer numbers of invading armies alone.

Part of the problem is that I keep having to relocate stuff to use as garrisons, and was curious as to whether the devs had any thoughts on adding buildings that give free garrison troops at all (for some or all factions)?

I have run into the same sort of issue with Macedon. I always end up fighting both Greece and Sparta by turn 5 or 6. Even in the best case scenarios I am only able to take out Athens before getting bogged down by Sparta just as the Barbarians to my North East (I forget their name) hits my exposed flank and it's gg. I think the best bet is to be hyper aggressive and try to secure as much territory as possible. However I think the mod is far from complete when it comes to balancing.

I came here to post a question similar to this, glad to see I'm not the only one running into this issue. Rome is supposed to be an easier faction but if I don't throw everything have either north or at carthage from the jump, stacks will just invade my province without even diplomatic relations. I can't even keep up with them becuase I barely have time to build up my economy and unit upkeep is really high.

I hope I'm just missing some obvious thing here, because I've played mods for RTW and M2TW for years now and have never encountered such a challenge. Playing on H/H.

Yeah I have tried spamming out ecom buildings like farms roads markets etc but even in the best cases I only delay defeat. By turn 14 or so even if I win every battle my army gets depleted to the point it doesn’t matter especially against fresh stacks from another country.

Ris is hard. If it's to hard lower the difficulty. 😉

While I appreciate that the mod is hard turning down the difficulty has not helped at least in my situation. I have tried both on medium and hard difficulty settings with minimum difference in outcome due to how things seem to play out with the AI and some other factors already mentioned. Would you be able to give more information/help beyond just stating the already obvious fact that the mod is made to be challenging?

I noticed that AI gets 20k money every turn. AI just all time build and recruit units becouse they have unlimited money.

What difficulty were you using when you noticed this? It's a given that the a.i will cheat on any given TW game. But I wonder if the difficulty still affects that with this mod.

Difficulty will still affect AI, 'easy' is definitely going to make a difference. Focus on constructing farms early on, this will give your economy a boost. Trade only becomes relevant later. Also: play aggressive, if you stick to your own territory too long, the AI might get an advantage that is hard to overcome later.

What Maurits sad. Also RIS is in the beta stage so many things are yet to be balanced properly. The AI will hopefully be less agressive in the next major patch. 😊

Alright cool. Thank you for the response. I might wait a version or two until things are more balanced. I got kinda spoiled on the original RS mod being so polished and finished.

RS 2 took years to develop that's why it was kinda polished. Then again we had to do multiple patches to really make it as great as it is nowdays. RIS has a more open develping process which mean you don't have to wait 2-3 years for the release but it's also not finished. :)

Hey, fair enough and don't take this the wrong way man. I love what you guys are doing and I still have a ton of fun fighting my losing campaigns as Macedon. :mailedfist:

No offence taken. I understand that some people want something more stable. :)

RTR:IS is an amazingly great mod, probably the best mod for remastered so far. However, I have to agree with the poster, sometimes playing the mod feels more like a chore than fun fighting five stacks of Carthaginan troops. I understand the mod is meant to be hard, but like he said Rome, an easy faction, is just bombared by non stop stacks of enemies it just kind of ruins the fun for me. The mod is still amazing but I just hope the balance issues will be fixed in the future and maybe an option to cut the stack spam.

Thanks for the tips/heads up. I guess I am just used to EB2 style pacing so playing aggressively isn't my mantra. I love the mod regardless, though, and am extremely grateful for all the hard work you guys put into it! Looking forward to more updates and patches as the days go on.

Cheers!
