The UNSTABLE one is the one that launches with newUI (Which is currently unstable and can lead to crashes)
The oldUI launches with the oldUI.
If the shortcut does not appear you might have some system restrictions on that block desktop link creation.
When I tried to run the game through one of the bat files, the mod took a very long time to start, but I suppose I can run the mod through New UI and have nothing to worry about?
We're investigating that launch delay problem since it seems to be a general problem.
You can run it with new UI but if you don't wanna suffer from regular crashes we recommend using the old version for now.
Got it. Thanks for your help!
- I did everystep in the mod installing guide
- I do have my steam launched and game sees it as "Black Mesa"
- But it says "Steam is not running. Please launch Steam before attempting to run Black Mesa"
- I tried both New UI and Old UI
Have you checked in
*/Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/362890/2424633574
?
There should be a bshift directory together with 8 bat files.
Also make sure the package is fully downloaded before checking the folder.
bshift_install.bat
bshift_gamelink.bat
bshift_newUI - UNSTABLE.bat
bshift_newUI_dxvk_UNSTABLE.bat
bshift_newUI_UNSTABLE.bat
bshift_oldUI.bat
bshift_oldUI_dxvk.bat
bshift_uninstall.bat
I have the Folder named "bshift" containing the maps, cfg, etc...
The one that I've seen for the installation process video was called "bshift" and it was also a bat file. The package doesn't include the bat file for me and when I follow the direction on how to install, it doesn't put any bat file of that sorts.
Solved: I just added the -windowed command to it then fixed the resolution in the game itself.
Make another Black Mesa shortcut as a "non-Steam Shortcut" on Steam (Using still the original bms.exe from Black Mesa directory), rename this new shortcut as "Black Mesa - Blue Shift" so that alphabetically it is sorted right below "Black Mesa", then add the same launch parameter "-game bshift" to this new shortcut. Remove the same command from the original Black Mesa if you have it already. Now no more forgetting to remove command if you want original Black Mesa.
