Honestly the hole factory area can be scraped since it don't make sense from a story point of view anyway. Were supposed to be running away from Black mesa not one man army against all of the nihilanths forces in a kevlar vest???
I thought Gordan freeman was a badass but he and that hev suit has nothing on Barney's plot armor by the end of blue shift.
Oh yea one last thing the fact you made the mark 3 suit that looks like master chief's amour and we can't take it to Xen is a crime against half life. Would of helped also explain how barney can stand in the equivalent of a nuclear reactor and somehow still be alive ^^
The first half of focal point is really good tho It starts going down hill when you get to the crane/teleporter part with the computers. The aircraft scene is amazing but you readded the factory levels from the base game but somehow made them even more annoying.
Also don't get me started on that generator ending boss fight that is just strait up terrible. I have no idea who looked at that annoying elevator part at main game Xen and decided to make it 2.0 that's even worse :/
Even before the elevator section got needed touch up least it still had infinite health/ammo and not limited health/ammo with infinitely spawning enemies.
I must say that BS is definitely WAY more detailed, but not too much where it hurts your brain. Captive Freight is where BS peaks imo. I saw that many people didn't really like Focal Point so I will say my opinion:
Overall it was great, although I had to noclip my way through 1 puzzle (the one with the purple flowers) since I didn't know how to solve it. The other part was at the end where you have to walk around these pipes that have green energy pumping on them-- I wasn't a huge fan of it but it was alright.
Perhaps it had a bit too many Controllers towards the end but no real complaint from me here.
It was LONG and honestly it almost never felt boring and/or tedious.
Focal Point rating: 8.5/10
Fatal Freight: 9.5/10
Overall rating of the mod: 9/10
Incredible job to everyone working on this.
I only play a handful of games by now, and Black Mesa: Blue Shift is definitely one of them 🤩
besides the game crashing when loading a few maps and running out of texture memory, I am amazed at what the team was able to give us for the Xen levels.
i am still trying to process everything that has happened + a migraine but you did an amazing job with Focal Point.
