it is recommended that you put some values in your GameUserSettings.ini, because if not the opacity are maybe too low. Also the ingame option to modify the opacity is a bit habituated. so better to set some basics in your config file:

[SafeBase]
ShieldSizeMult=1.0
TribeLimit=1
MinOpacity=0.50
MaxOpacity=0.80
