How do artifact pieces work?
Hi, I've been trying to figure out how to use artifact pieces. In my case I've been using a blood magic spell that has a chance of generating 4 pieces of various tiers like common, famed, and illustrious. How do I actually use those pieces that I've generated?

While searching for information I saw in the patch notes that they can be merged into higher tiers or grafted onto existing artifacts.

They are used in the crafting mechanic (below the umbra button in the right hand UI buttons). You can see your inventory of them listed in the Material tab.

The 9/24/24 "Run For Your Life!" Update's change log implies that they are used in smithing.by Mummies for reforging artifact pieces.

I've found the crafting mechanic a combination of too impenetrable and too low in rewards for me to really explore it.

Crafting now is heavily reliant on perk trees. Used to be that you only needed to have Umbra access for ingredients, but now you really need specific disciplines in order to make use of crafting. Specifically for the artifact pieces, as the poster above me mentioned mummies use them, maybe fae but I never play fae so I cannot say. Vampires *can* use them, but it requires a necromancy path (Vitreous path of the Nagaraja) to get a ritual that lets you enhance an existing artifact with them.
