failure: Well, the jester is quite famous even after his death. His escapades are mildy amusing (10 stress loss)
success: In death, the life-long rebel and wanderer serves as a political prob for local merchants to gain recognition for their town. Even those personally ridiculed by him now gladly sell his memorabilia. Ah, humans. (+100 diplomacy xp)
c) A nearly life-sized statue of solid bronze, huh? Let´s steal it. (+50 Gold, +1 Gallows bait thief)
d) How quaint. Let´s move on. (nothing happens)
Title: Legendary jester
Location: Germany, somewhere in the Duchy of Holstein
While moving through the small town of Moelln you notice a bronze statue of a jester with a polished thumb and toe. According to a local legend the spirit of the deceased comedian Till Eulenspiegel bestows great fortune on anyone, who rubs the right thumb and tow of his statue at night. How do you react?
a) Nice try, suckers! This is clearly a feeding ground for vampires. Why else would it only work at night? My pack sets up an ambush. (Intrigue challenge)
failure: You waste your time watching drunkards rubbing the statue. Them and you both got pranked by a dead jester. (-50 prestige)
success: You had the right hunch and catch a truly desperate vamp. (vamp prisoner)
A sweet sting of jealousy. I never managed to get so many posts out of Sparc.
Anyway, let´s assume that there is a very large group of PoD-German players out there who are very upset about the lack of coverage of Till Eulenspiegel. Never heared of him? Well, Disney failed us as well in not making a movie about our national treasure. In our righteous fury we will continue to sabotagte Sparc´s Volkdswagen, until the following event is implemented:
- Check your error log, look towards the bottom. If it mentions a bunch of missing assets, your installation of CK3 or your installation of POD is incomplete. For CK3, verify the integrity of your files. For POD, try unsubscribe, and then subscribe. You can also try downloading it from another source and doing a manual install. https://www.princesofdarknessmod.com/wiki/index.php/Manual_Install
- Be sure that your version of CK3 is 1.16.0.1 and your version of the mod is 1.16.0.1.
I didn't have this issue before and other total conversion mods are working perfectly fine, so that's why I'm assuming that something might not be okay with this update. I hope that I'm not the only one here with this problem.
Individuals are responsible for their individual statements. If you have a problem with something someone has said, it is best to address them personally. Just as I am only engaging you, personally--albeit you have chosen to air your grievances in a public forum.
The suggestions we received were not sufficiently detailed. There was a complaint about nerfs to the Holy Grail, soultaker, and bone boiling, and an objection to the removing of possession from Demons. There was a complaint that the Unnamed character took too long to improve (it is a character that is intentionally hard with a slow development). Otherwise, nothing. Beyond a vague not like these things, no constructive suggestions were offered.
If it is a question that some players prefer the old mechanics, they are welcome to create a submod that restores those mechanics. Those mechanics our accessible in back versions of the mod available on moddb, nexusmods and mods at paradox plaza, as well as our github. If such submods were extremely popular, we might reconsider our changes... but I suspect that is unlikely. The future is unwritten. Anything might change about POD in the future. Maybe not as much as Stellaris changes... but we will always be experimenting with changes with goals of improving the story, being more immersive, being consistent with the lore of the WOD universe, being fun, being challenging, being easy to understand for new players and being interesting. Its a tough list of requirements to meet that we will never completely fulfill.
Some players would like Fera and Mages to be done. So would we. Doing such will take a lot of time. Our original plan for 2026 was to work on Fera and Mages, but Paradox announcing the east Asia expansion changed our plans. We can't ignore the east as Paradox expands the map.
I have created dedicated discord topics for discussing 1.6.0 changes to Demons, Kuei-Jin and Shih respectively.

"be treated with respect"
A desire of all human beings, including POD developers.
" I’m done wasting my breath."
O.K. Have a nice life!
- Compatibility with Crusader Kings III 1.16.0.1 "Chamfron" hotfix
## Bugfixes
- Hideout domiciles no longer get cleared by the game periodically (whoops)
- AI Vampires now respect the Ghoul cap instead of gaining more and more of them forever and ever
- Various tributary related fixes
- Fixed Grand City special building not switching
- The "Steal the Power of Vitae" objective now properly gives you a Blood Potency modifier
I agree that not all or even most "Chinese players only care about stats". It is such a large and diverse group that is impossible to guess what even the majority of play style would be.
Obsession with high attribute numbers does exist in the POD community, and that is a fine way to play for some players. I don't believe that play style is a priority of any particular linguistic, ethnic or national group.
We do believe that the majority of POD's 200,000 subscribers are the silent majority. We do believe that silent majority is largely satisfied with what the POD dev team has so far delivered and happy to play what is currently available, but perhaps expectantly wait for what we will deliver in the future. A smaller group are players that will engage with the POD dev team on forums such as this, reddit, Paradox Plaza, X and Discord. A smaller group will then engage with the dev team by being patron. And the smallest groups volunteer to help develop the mod itself.
If what we have done is unacceptable to some players, then it is unacceptable to them and they won't play. Thats fine. POD doesn't have the same subscriber count as CFP or AGOT. And even the most popular mods are only a fraction of CK3's 4 million players. We make what we enjoy and what we think other fans of the World of Darkness and POD will enjoy.
We can not, however, read minds. If players do not like something we have done, and do not provide a detail criticism or suggestion; there is no way we will know about it and act on it. You , for instance, have spent more time discussing arrogance and silent majorities rather than detailing something actionable what you believe is the cause of POD's "actual playability remains terrible". If you think it is so terrible, but won't even express WHY it is so terrible, perhaps we aren't the mod you should be playing.
Chinese players are not ignored. We don't have the resources (of frankly interest) in engaging player communities on a linguistic, national or ethnic basis. We aren't trying to break into a particular market, but deliver a mod we both enjoy and as may of our players can enjoy. We have had and continue to have fluent Chinese developers on our dev team. We continue to have Chinese translation of the mod (the only language group beyond English that is included with the mod), we have a rarely used Chinese channel on our discord. For the last several months, much of our development has been focused on preparing for Crusader Kings III expansion to Asia and their All Under Heaven DLC. Much of that content, including Story Content and Narrative-Focused play mechanics will be related to China.
For the last several months, much of our development has been focused on preparing for Crusader Kings III expansion to Asia and their All Under Heaven DLC. Much of that content, including Story Content and Narrative-Focused play mechanics will be related to China. For the last several months the majority of Story Content and Narrative-Focused play mechanics have been for East Asia... most of which we are not ready to share publicly yet. The start of reworks for Kuei-Jin and Shih are part of that work.
We are regularly adding more story content and mechanics for narrative-focused play to the mod. I might argue that POD is one of the most narrative focused and story content rich mods for Crusader Kings 3. Not every update will have the same amount of story content or narrative-focused mechanics. Narrative-focused play game mechanics and story content require both interest and some skill in writing; an interest and skill that is not equally distributed among the general population or among our developers. POD developers work on both what interests them on their own individual schedules. Even when we have a big collective project that multiple developers are working on, we can not compel a particular POD developer to work or finish a project by a certain date.
We don't control Paradox Release schedule, but we try to release as much content we can in accordance with Paradox's update to CK3 as that is the window in which most players saves will break.
There will always be tweaks going on from some devs for keeping the mod both possible for new players to succeed, a challenge for experienced players, and an interesting multiplayer game for those who are interested. Sometimes those goals get more interest and developer times than others.

A comment like this: " kuijin and demon is a disaster, the playability is far worse than before" is an opinion that gives us no actionable information. Why do you think Kuei-Jin and Demons are now a disaster? Without explaining, we don't have any hope of making a change to it that will satisfy your displeasure.
But I will make a guess!
Actualizar cuando?
Mañana!
If you are having a similar problem with other CK3 mods that are the same size as POD or larger, it is probably an issue of insufficient computer system resouces.

Welcome to the Vamily!
That was the nicest "update when?" comment we have ever received. :)
Update for 1.16.0 is available now.
Princes of Darkness "Wind from the East" Update, Version 1.6.0, April 28, 2025
Compatible with CK3 1.16.0 "Chamfron" Update and "Khans of the Steppe" DLC
Change Log: https://www.princesofdarknessmod.com/wiki/index.php/Change_Log#Princes_of_Darkness,_%22Wind_from_the_East%22,_Version_1.16.0,_4/28/2025
You like it complicated and want to go for spheres? Those can be combined for max effect (fireball for aggravated damage, correspondence so it cannot be dodged etc.):
Maybe use the current crafting system with spheres known to the player char as crafting nodes. Then offer different nodes for common purposes, like buff spell, attack spell, affect province etc.
The challenge is we want it to be a flexible system, maybe let players create their own spells, and for it to be cool and fun. Its a tall order, and we don't want to rush it.
The recent changes to Blood Sorcery, Sorcery and Necromancy show we are improving things in terms of magic and its GUI.
That would be the best place to post them.
Even better if you want to write out the event's full text including options.
As for mages: the applications of true magic are only limited by the player´s imagination. However, in Dark Ages they heavily rely on rotes of their respective schools (prefab spells). Also, you might go by function rather than form: "make be better at prowess" rather than "I want claws and extra speed". Or "Raise the fortress level of my capital" rather than "I want immolation runes and a confusing maze around my chantry".
