Inquisitor Survival Advice
I've tried several times to play as an Inquisitor (either Deo Occuli or Marneu) and it always plays out the same way.

Step 1. Make middling progress.
Step 2. Get bogged down in a war due to a vampire prince playing round-robin, have three other vampire-princes take the opportunity to declare war on me, thus bogging me down further.
Step 4. A shadow-crusade is called against one of the major powers and it fails right away.
Step 3. The Fief of the Black Cross (always them specifically) declares war on me, mustering a giant army I can't even hope to beat. At this point I usually ragequit because it's clear I'm not going to last until the fall of civilization.

My biggest problem is the Fief of the Black Cross, because I can never seem to build up the power necessary to take on vampire-Germany in time before they start decimating them. Even when I hunt their Emperors it doesn't cause an issue. Despite vampires being supposedly being back-stabbers, their realms are exceedingly stable.

I've tried playing on Easy Difficulty with Apocalyptic Inquisitors, that's still not enough to avoid crashing and burning.

I was able to survive as a custom character in the Sword of Saint James. There are no superpowers in Spain, so it's less difficult to build up your power before facing the Courts of Love. Better yet, the African coast provides further area to expand into. This way I can build up my forces to be ready to invade Vampire-Germany.

Vampire Civilization still hasn't collapsed yet.

Vampire Civilization collapsing is not an event scripted to happen, it's a result of some AI completing the Gangrel clan objective and we know that happens way too often, it's been fixed in the unreleased build. As for tips on playing Inquisition see the bottom of this post: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/mod-princes-of-darkness.1414717/page-26#post-27321559 It seems that your problem (especially as von Murnaus) is following tip 4. In the early game, you sort of have to race your neighbours for levy number domination, luckily Inquisitors can develop their domains to raise their levy limit faster and cheaper than vampires. Big levies buy you time to develop your bag of tricks and dismantle your neighbours one by one and do so with minimal loses, so that the levies stay big. Good luck and happy hunting!

Thanks for the advice. In future inquisitor games I'll make sure to focus more on my levies.

Your advice worked!

I started a game as Marneu, but this time I focused on levy buildings and retinues from the start. I also chose my wars more carefully, only attacking weaker opponents. By doing this I managed to build up a strong force.

Then the fiefs of the black cross were weakened by a war against the Courts of Love so I launched a kingdom holy war for Germany and won. Now I'm poised to save Europe.

The other inquisition orders are dead or dying though, so I'll have to act decisively to save them too.
