The "Conquered Soul" event
After eating a strong enough vampire this event happens where its soul tries to take over or whatever. And now over 20 hours of play this event happened to me, completely changed my character and pretty much took all of my interest to play the game from that point onwards.

Now I did have a save like 8 months back, but regardless the event always happened with exactly the same result. I understand that save scumming like this is not everyone's cup of tea, but during that game I had a pretty cool in-game narrative going on and this ruined it for me.

Not a fan that your character can be completely distorted like this and there is nothing you can do.

Yeah when I had that happen it was the first time I taught myself how to use the console for CK3. Reverted all the changes.

Same thing, sucked all the joy out of a pretty long run.

I wonder if there is a way to temporarily disable that specific event without breaking the mod?

i mean its part of the lore, u gotta have enough will to persist. if it ruins ur game so much console commands will fix it.

When you are diablerizing another vampire you are basically trying to consume their soul to steal their power. Since a vampires power is largely based on generation in the lore, trying to consume a soul far above you in generation is very risky. From a pure gameplay perspective you should try to take only those one generation above you and you can usually get away with it if you are just trying to raise your generation. Methuselahs will always be risky though.

It sucks when you lose the struggle I know but it is very much a part of the lore. Try to read what happens to Tremere after he diablerize Saulot.
Ps: You've not seen true horror until you as a female vampire lose the struggle against a bearded male Tzimisce with advanced vicissitude. Helena looks terrible with a full beard.

I'm sure that Tzimisce can reshape the body as preferred tho.

If anyone wants to get rid of the event. (do at own risk, backup save, etc)

Open the save file with something like 7zip
extract the gamestate file and open with a decent text editor (notepad+ or something) otherwise you'll get lots of lag.

search for an event something like POD_diablerie.800 (could also be POD.diablerie.800, or something)
you'll know if the event is correct as it will refer to the char id of your character as well as the diablerized soul.

Delete the event as appropriate (as in make sure you delete the correct containing } marks).
Save gamestate file, reinsert gamestate into the save file.

Base on what I can tell on from the event descriptor in the gamestate, the outcome of the event is determined the moment you diablerize someone, so even if you had only a 5% chance of losing control, if that is what you rolled 20 years before the event, you're stuck with it.

Same. Just make it a gamerule or something. Didn't they make the obsidian skin a gamerule? why can't they do the same here.

Lorewise, it's up to the GM, which is why this shouldn't be a hardcoded event.

My main, very big problem with this event, is that there is NO WAY to fight it with powers, or stress, or anything really. It just happens, which is a pretty extreme change that kills the desire the play the game, if all that stuff you learned is just useless.

It makes little sense that a vampire with strong mental abilities would have ZERO ability to fight off this event.
