I was playing Orenburg and was completely enthralled by the story and the immersion. I enjoyed every second. HOI 4 is best, in my view, when it's an RPG of nations and you get to make the decisions of a government and see those decisions take effect.
That said, the choices aren't clear enough to see what possible decisions may do. I can select one thing and not know what the outcome would be. I tried to centralize the government but I failed each time.
But other than that, this is a mod that will be on my watch list and I eagerly look forward to seeing the completed product!
1. Cant see anything with the Black/Blue UI, reading equipment text is very hard, same for all of the war popups that are gray on black.
2. Every one being able to engage in border conflicts mean that the player will be raded from every side constantly, thats what happened to me after conquering orienburg and the ural as the bandits, i had 7 countries next to me and every one wanted to raid me. Since most of my army was just 5 units of infantry on the border with the "secret nation" i was loosing border conflicts by my army just not being there since it took very long to get to the border.
3. Remove the defence buffs from the ural, they are stupid overpowered to the point where you cant push through. By the time i got around to invading them they completed their unit buff tree and were at 700 defence. With the preperation buff i had 300 attack and 3 breakthrough, the only way to actually defeat them for me was to walk around them when orienburg declared war on me, the orienburg infantry melted in a second, so when the front was wide enough i walked around the ural troops straight in to their capital. In base game stupid amounts of defences are countered by air support and tanks... you cant do that when all you have is old rifles and artilery.
4. Please add more supression to units, or a designated unit for supression, once the ural and the orienburg were conquered it was a race against time untill all of the regions reached 100% resistance with no way to counter it since they ate through my manpower and rifles at a crazy rate.
+ Positives +
1. I like the small random events like the bandit officer gaining a bear as a pet (though i tried to do the event 8 times and all of the times the bear just mauled the guy after becomming friendly so... rigged?)
2. Playing in a massive balkanised russia sounds super fun.
3. The tech tree looks very interesting and seeing it in action would be super cool, as well as using all of the tanks, rocket platforms and so on.
4. In general it gives off a lot of "Red Land" vibes (a campaign setting for "Savage Worlds") which is a welcome change compared to other mods that try to do things with a straight face. Its less: "THIS IS A GRIM DARK WORLD WHERE FUN IS NOT ALLOWED" and more of a "Wouldn't it be cool if you could play as a crazy sientist in the russian mountains?" Looking forward to playing as the free aviators, the remains of the soviets as well as playing the bandits again, conquering the whole of russia and knocking down germany's door. (Swear to god that needs to be a secret event or something where you invade germany and after taking Berlin proclaim yourself the new leader of greater germany.)
mod will be released when this hits %100

Edit: ive played a bit of the mod, and i have to say, the UI is bad but this is fairly compelling, so the only real complaint i have is that the UI is bad (shocker huh) but i loving what im playing as the Ural Leauge
also the impact of the decisions you make isnt so clear. for example for orenburg the event where you decide whether a change is needed or the status quo should resume is good and fair enough, but didnt know until playing through again that picking status quo gives you little to no choices at all, picking options is completely disabled. it isnt clear what makes choices locked or unlocked. there was an event for a 3rd way as though we could choose to go down it, but guess everything had done prior meant that we couldnt actually choose it.
great mod though holy moses
