Where do colonists for new colonies?

Hey everyone, I was watching the preview video for this mod and it looks great, but I had a question about creating new colonies... where do the colonists for these new colony caravans come from? Do you have to choose colonists from your own pool or do they kind of just come out of nowhere?

come out of nowhere. you don't have to worry about sending your own colonists away
