Improvement on pacing of Raid levels on settlements
During the playthrough i find it quite frustrating and powerless when my settlements are getting raided and i can do nothing about it, i know that you can change min/max days before raids happen but it doesnt solve the problem of how the raiding power keeps progressing while ignoring the current settlement military level

This is my first playthrough so i just set a settlement to test and see how the mechanics works, some days go by a level 2 raid comes and of course crush my settlement, but the problem is my colony nor the attacked settlement have a steady stream of silver to support the upkeep of raising a lot of military level, so i ended up barely raising it to 3, and while economy is damaged i am barely keeping it self sustain, ended up 50+ silver profit? but most of the time is me paying silver.

Then the second raid comes with attacking force of 6......

Like how am i suppose to defend it? i get it the forces should get progressively strong but the pacing is just too quick, I think the raid strength should take the player's settlement development pacing into account, like maybe the mod can take the player's settlement military level into account before deciding whether it should be ramping up.

I did see that people suggest getting like 5000 silver before starting your first settlement, but tbh thats kinda limiting how player approach this mod, because of this "forced progressive" raiding mechanics i can't start settlements right from the start and watch it increase in military level along side my colony.

So my point is that the raid levels should take the current situation into account, whether or not it is the amount of silver the player have or the overall settlement military levels, coz right now i feel like the game have no sense of my current state and now i am just in a state where i have to constantly throw even more silver into this never ending loop of raising settlement military level and seeing my settlement getting crushed nevertheless so there will never be healthy prosperity(economy) level and dont even think about profit. So i think the mod should maybe allow the player to change the progressiveness on raid difficulty or just take silver amount or settlements military level into account while spawning settlement raids. While raid is an essential part to balance out the benefit that settlements gives so the i would rather not turning it off but these unbalanced raids makes this mods a burden or even unplayable when you can never upgrade fast enough to actually win these never ending progressively strong raids.

Same here. So far settlements are not a money sink, but a money toilet, because nothing ever comes back from the investment.
I built a settlement, saw it getting constantly raided without any mechanism to support it so i decided to put money into a stronger defense. I took on the "merc" faction trait" build a training ground and upgraded the colony to level 2...
And the game decided to throw a level3 raid at it. The battle was lost, the colony level reduced to 1, the training ground destroyed. 2500 silver did absolutely nothing for me and for the next raid (usually around level 4-6) my chances of winning got reduced to 0 again.

What is the benefit of having colonies?
They are not profitable in terms of production and a drain on ressources in military terms.
They do N O T H I N G for the player except to frustrate on a regular basis.

I keep the mod installed out of love for the concept but I kind of agree with the other two posters on how its incredibly difficult out of nowhere and seems like I have to forcefully shift all development into military right out of the gate or get heavily demolished shortly after putting my colony up.

Yea I've blown like 20k silver on one colony, it defended itself successfully twice but not long enough for it to actually start making a profit, then it started getting crushed by level 6 armies repeatedly after I upgraded it to level 7

This is after it was raided half a dozen times and every defense was failed

Agreed. This is such a great mod but with it being far too difficult to defend your colonies it makes the mod useless atm.

An easier approach is to start out with four settlements, instead of one. Before founding anything, set your Social Policy to Royal Heritage, and get The New Pioneers faction trait. With the discounts from those two selections, you should be able to create four settlements for around 4000 silver. Once the settlements are created, you can repeal the Royal Heritage policy and switch to One People United, and take the Heavy Conscription military policy. These are not as profitable as other policy/trait combinations, but your settlements will all be military level 3 before any upgrades.

From there, focus three settlements on making silver to pay for upgrades, and one on military to defend the settlements. They'll still get raided and damaged, but since the raids are randomly picking one of the four, none of them are likely to take too much damage before you can recover from it. With two or three military buildings and level upgrades, your military settlement should be able to fend off most raids.
