Sorry to say that your solution to this, as you described, does indeed turn off the radio but only if you stay in that vehicle. I read your fix from another post concerning this about 7 or 8 months back and have tried that but all it does is turns off while you stay in the vehicle but once you get out of the vehicle the radio turns back on and plays on a different channel.
