I've already abandoned it for the same reason; repeating hours of the same boring gameplay because I can't save before I do something likely stupid and lethal.
ARMA wants to be Farcry I guess. Next we'll see "BIS-Play" DRM and the Bohemia Interactive exclusive storefront launcher with mandatory personal account and login.
Savegame should never EVER be a combat mission waypoint.
I hope devs add a setup/config option for normal savesystem. ARMA used to be so cool and flexible. Tanoa will never get a proper classic ARMA campaign, just more of this console Call of Duty respawn/save checkpoint crap like APEX.
