Equestria at War
New Mareland during the civil war
So yeah, um I was playing as the Lunar Empire and I defeated Celestia pretty quickly, but the civil war continued because New Mareland was a Major..... How? I'm going to try this again, and see if its different, but I feel as if New Mareland shouldn't be able to join the civil war, like the crystal empire, or should at least back out of the conflict once Celestia is defeated.

Both the Crystal Empire and New Mareland have options to join Celestia, join Luna, or stay neutral as a protectorate and colony of Equestria respectively.

Once Celestia is defeated you should be able to freely prepare an invasion of New Mareland. Focus on their mainland and the northern island in the gulf.
In my game they sided with Celestia and were a major power, their troops constantly reinforced failing Equestrian frontlines which was actually fun, and they funnelled a lot of troops into Las Pegasus *after* Equestria capitulated, because Las Pegasus in my experience rejoins Equestria 90% of the time.
This made them incredibly easy to invade as I have slaughtered a lot of their troops in Equestria proper and in Las Pegasus before the invasion.
You inherit partially Equestrian fleet and it's enough to set up an invasion.
