Atlas Creatures Added, SPAWN CODES! and meandering thoughts on future plans
Creatures already added:

Sivatherium (Giraffe):

The Sivatherium is almost an upgraded Galli, fairly tanky, quick, and with three seater capability, reasonably all terrain as I've made sure to give it a fitting step height. Two attacks, neck swing (LMB) for harvesting trees with a big knockback and front leg stomp (RMB) in case anything manages to get underneath you and for harvesting Berries. The Siva is good at gathering Thatch, and in fact can also consume Thatch as well, this can be used as a taming food with the same effectiveness as Mejoberries. Sivatheriums can also run for days! They will lose very, very little stamina when sprinting.

I've made it the Sivatherium as that was the largest known Giraffe relative, although in reality in was a bit stumpier and more heavily built with a shorter neck than the modern or Atlas Giraffe. It actually had a bit more of an ornate horn arrangement irl, but all together I think it works well enough.

Moa (Ostrich):

I love the Ostrich model and animations, and think it works really well as one of the largest ever flightless birds, the Moa. As well as being a fast and agile mount, the Moa has highly insulative feathers which make it able to effectively incubate Fertilized Eggs held within its inventory. It will incubate them at the regular rate, and take your server settings into account, all the way down to 1%. It also has the ability to slowly regenerate any lost health on Fertilized Eggs.

Homotherium (Tiger):

Whilst not quite as well known as its more prominently canine endowed relatives, the Homotherium was a very successful and wide spread cat. A plains hunter with sharp cutting teeth. Mostly resembling a Tiger, although with a sloped look due to longer front legs, not something I've been able to emulate but the Atlas Tiger model works pretty well.

As the Tiger is based on the Thylacoleo skeleton, it would have been remiss not to use the Thylas climbing abilities, although the Homotherium finds climbing much more stamina intensive than its marsupial cousin. The ♥♥♥♥ (yes, I said ♥♥♥♥, stop snickering in the back there) has three attacks, Bite (LMB) which causes a bleed (uses the Deinonychus bleed debuff) this attack is also good for stripping Prime Meat from a corpse but will not gather hide, Claw Swipe (RMB) slightly more base damage than the bite with more knockback but slower over all, this attack can be used to flay hide from a corpse but will not gather Prime, and of course the Tiger has a mighty Roar (C) which imbues it with a 'Resolve' buff increasing damage and damage resistance for 30 seconds. I have now removed the glowing stripes entirely from the regular Homotherium, as it was not correctly respecting only working on Aberration, as such there is now an actual Aberrant Homotherium.

Livyatan (Mean/Sperm Whale) still under development, admin spawnable:

Finally, the Livyatan can make it to the oceans of Ark! In reality, the Livyatan wasn't that massive, estimates put it at about the size of the Megalodon, although they also think it preyed on Megalodon's, so not sure about that, certainly in Ark that would make it tiny, so I've taken creative license and made it roughly the size of the Mosa, although the Mosa does trump it in girth and muscle, so therefore I may increase it further. My thinking with this monster is to make it into the aquatic raid dino, a temporary tame, but one that will shred through alpha Mosas and Squids, ability to break structures. The sort of thing you'd tame to obliterate the sea caves of the Island, or get at enemy tribes underwater installations. Limited to a couple per map, tamed by severely weakening with Ballista Bolts. May combine the presence of this monster with a re-work of Leedsichthys, taking the aggression towards rafts away from the big dumb fish and giving it to the actual whale instead.

Things to do: Rework saddle so that it fits properly, increase size, set up raid dino mechanics, taming mechanics and spawning mechanics, rework all stats.

Cave Lion (Lion):

The Eurasian Cave Lion was well spread over most of the continent during the ice age, and whilst they didn't live in caves per se, they were called this because their remains were often found in caves where they have been killed hunting Cave Bears, or humans. But this is Ark, so we will take things literally here! The Cave Lion can indeed be found in caves on most maps. Individually not that strong, the strength of the Lion lies in the Pride, and in their native environment the creatures that they share their homes with have learnt to respect the power of the Pride. Lions receive both a gang bonus up to a maximum of 6, and are a pack creature. Lions will mostly spawn as females, but males are bigger and stronger with more health and do more damage than females, females in turn are faster. All male lions are able to roar, and the highest level member of the pack can also roar. This will imbue all members of the Pride with an 'Emboldened' buff for 90 seconds, increasing damage resist and output, and give them a speed increase, it will also stop most cave creatures from aggroing on them for the duration of the buff (inc. Scorps, Spiders, Snakes, and Arthropleura, not including Megalania or Megalosaurus)

Kolponomos (Bear):

So as I previously mentioned, I was struggling to really come up with anything for the Atlas bear, but then whilst exercising my Google-fu, I came across this fella, the Kolponomos, or Otter Bear, an early semi aquatic bear relative of modern bears. Whilst it's often depicted as having a very square, otter like face, the pictures I found of the actual skull looked like the shape of the Atlas bears noggin would be good enough for rock and roll.

So what does the Kolponomos bring to the party? He's amphibious, whilst there is an oxygen stat it's high and Kolp's a very good swimmer. Penguins and shellfish being his preferred food, he does 4x damage against Kairuku (and the Atlas Penguin when it gets introduced) Eurypterids and Trilobites with his left click attack, Kolpo can also gather pearls using its right click attack. Very buoyant, when ridden will always be looking to float to the surface, when on the surface and riding him, you'll be able to whip out your fishing rod and have a bit of a dangle.

Like its cousin the Direbear, Kolponomos gets cranky when you invade its personal space, although if you want one to be your friend you'll have to get up close and personal as it is a passive tame (top tip, Ghillie and crouch) Because of its high penguin diet, Kolpo's have a thick layer of organic polymer of their own which grants them a very high torpidity with a rapid rate of drop, and when riding one you'll be able to laugh in the face of pesky cheap stunning dinos, as he is immune to stun debuffs from the likes of Baryonx and Purlovia. Although still take care, Baryonx will still dismount and stun you, but the Kolp will still be able to fight back. Eels and Jellies will still effect you, so you're not exactly Psoidon while riding one. Koponomos is very good at gathering Organic Polymer from Kairuku, and enjoys Organic Polymer as its preferred taming food.

Dryptosaurus (Razortooth):

At the suggestion of my buddy UpFromTheDepths, Tyrannosaur fan boi supreme, I've decided to go with the Drypto for the Razortooth. It works pretty well in terms of body shape and stance, and there is a plethora of paleo art depicting it as feathered, or with feathery protrusions at least, and I'm really happy with how this fella turned out.

Dryptos are ambush predators, not overly strong in a heads up fight although fairly quick and nimble, they are able to camouflage themselves in any environment. They'll then let their presence be known with an ear splitting scream that disorients their prey, leaving their vision blurring and ears ringing, slowed and stumbling and trying to run in blind and deaf panic (so yeah, I tried to dress it up, but this is the Yuty Fear roar with a few adjustments to cooldown and effectiveness and a different Post Process effect) Unlike the roar of its cousin the Yutyrannus, the Drypto's scream does effect humans.

Corvus Karak (Crow):

Some will say it's a crow, some will say it's a raven, hence I've gone with the ambiguous title of Corvus Karak (Karak was a character from one of my favourite books, he was sometimes the Crow God, and sometimes the Raven God, and no one could tell which. He liked pretty things)
A smart and social bird, can be found in groups. Whilst mostly inoffensive there's two things that they love, a nice fresh corpse to chow down on, and anything shiny. The latter can work to a survivors advantage and disadvantage. Dropping a shiny metal ingot in the vicinity of a Corvus will get its attention and be accepted as a gift. After a certain amount of shiny tributes, the Corvus will then remain on the ground and as long as it is undisturbed it will allow you to hand feed to spoiled meat to complete the taming ritual. However, wild Corvus will be maniacally attracted to survivors sporting shiny metal armour or wielding shiny tools and will attack en masse!
A Tamed Corvus is handy to have around if you're looking to undergo any crafting projects. It can't be levelled in speed, but instead has a crafting skill. When picking up your clever pet, you will receive a boost to your own crafting skill of 20% that of the Corvus' whilst it is resting on your shoulder.

Macaw (Parrot):

You won't find a happier more carefree creature on the Ark than the happy go lucky Macaw. Content to fly around chattering away to itself, will flee rather than fight, happy to do tricks for its own amusement and that of others. Easy to charm and make into a companion, when it does alight on the ground, calmly approach it and give it a pat. Once it's happy enough after enough pats it will be your friend for life. Other creatures aren't quite sure what to make of the noises and impressions almost constantly eminating from a tamed macaws beak, and having one on you shoulder will allow you get closer to wild dinos than usual, until you get too close then the illusion gets broken and they may attack (This reduces the targeting range of an enemy dino, the higher the level of Macaw the greater the reduction up to a maximum of 60% range reduction, slightly more effective than full Ghillie) Also keep and eye out for the rare all blue variety of Macaw, sometimes called a Norwegian Blue, sometimes a Spix Macaw, sometimes just 'Blue'
Male Macaws sport a feathered crest, and when tamed Macaws are able to wear your jaunty hats for ultimate cuteness.

Bobcat (Cat):

Kitteh! Yes indeed, all your Ark soft kitty dreams can now come true. As well as just being the most adorable things ever, having a cute widdle puddy cat around can be quite beneficial, as the natural enemy of small annoying flappy things, a tamed cat will scare away wild Ichthyornis, Vultures, Corvus and Dimorphodons before they have the chance to ruin your day. You can also put your furry little friend onto wander, and it will keep itself fed by hunting small squeaky things (represented by harvesting bushes and receiving meat, chitin and hide in its inventory) Your feline companion will also periodically display some heart meltingly cute behaviours when idle. Now you can also find a glowing kitty variant on Aberration

Palaeeudyptes (Penguin):

P-p-p-pick up a penguin! And get a warm hug in return. The bigger and more adorable cousin of the Kairuku can be found alongside them, but is a very different animal indeed. Although they have a few similarities like being found with younglings, and able to be clubbed senseless for their sweet, sweet polymer, these larger pengwings will bite back if attacked. Though they don't have a large range of insulation, picking one up for a warm adorable hug will grant an insulation buff, but the warm fuzzy feelings will also help you earn a small amount of additional XP. In the water however, these pingwens come into their own. Able to pull along a rider, they have also developed the ability to create and rapidly fire off high speed projectiles with prompting from their rider (left click) as well as being able to do a quick bite (right click) Why can they do this? Something something evolution. (The idea of a machine gun penguin amused me and there's not other underwater projectile firing creatures) Not only that but their eggs are massively polymer rich, and in the pengwens inventory can be crafted into 1 regular and 1 organic polymer. You can also craft Louse Antidote which is essential for the taming and upkeep of Maiabalaena in the AoA Crafting Bench.

Spawns: Island/Rag/Center/Valguero/Ext wherever Kariuku spawn, Can be found following Maiabalaena

Maiabalaena (Gentle Whale):

An early adopter of baleen for feeding, these gentle giants roam the oceans quite happily swallowing gallons of tiny things and generally being rather inoffensive. When I was looking into what kind of whale the gentle whale could become, I discovered Whale Lice that infest modern whales, and sort of became fixated on them, and thus the lice have become intregal to the taming and upkeep of Maiabaleena, and formed a triumverate of dependence between Whale, Penguin and Shark. Normal whale lice are a mere few millimetres big, but I imagine the lice that infest Maiabalaena to be massive inches long things that reproduce massively quick and can sustain cmall groups of sharks and penguins that follow their host whale around like an ever moving buffet.

In the wild you can harvest Lice from a living whale by swimming up to one and pressing E in the same manner as you would get fish from a Leeds. However each whale has a retinue of Sharks and Penguins following it and living off of the lice that you are about to take. The way to tame a Maiabaleena is to cure it of its infestation, using Louse Antidote which is crafted in the inventory of penguins using Lice, Oil, Biotoxin, a Penguin Egg and Citronal. This is a variety of passive taming, you must have Louse Antidote in your 0 Slot, harvest Lice from the whale, and you will then have a 30 second window in which to administer the antidote. Beware though as giving a dose of antidote will attract Sharks and make them come to protect the Whale. Simply rinse and repeat until tamed.

Tamed Maiabalaena are great transport mounts, high health, massive weight, decent speed, and excellent stamina usage. They also will not be targeted by all but the largest marine predators (Megalodon and up) and any allied players or dinos that are close by them (within about 5 foundations) will also escape the attentions of pesky jellies and mantas etc. Like their relatives Basilosaurus they are immune to jelly and eel stings, cannot be grabbed by Tusos, and will give a Insulation buff to their riders. However they are not fighters at all, they do very low damage with a very slow attack speed, you'll want to have a bodyguard if going near anything that might want to attack them. Hammerheads of course are a natural bodyguard and will receive a small boost to damage and resistance in the company of a Maiabalaena.

As filter feeders, Maiabalaena have no food stat. They never need to be fed, however just because you have rid them of their lice infestation once, the little bleeders can return and infect the whale again. When riding you'll see the buff meter (Giga rage meter) keep an eye on that because if it completely fills up your whale will become feral, it will get set to aggressive and wandering, will be unable to be ridden, and will not obey orders until it gets treated once more with a Louse Antidote. It takes roughly 24 real time hours for an infestation to completely take over, so you'll need to treat your whale with antidote at least once a day, either by having it in Slot 0 and then selecting from the radial menu, or by force feeding in the inventory. Note that if a whale does go feral, it will still respect any following orders it already has, so if you don't think you'll be able to get on, put it to follow something to stop it buggering off completely. Using a Cryopod or Soul Ball will not remove the infestation, but obviously will stop it getting worse whilst they are balled up. Baby Maiabalaena are especially susceptible to Louse infestation and will gain it at a rapid rate. However, keeping a tamed Hammerhead or two nearby your Maia's will have the benefit of both slowing down the lice infestation, and keeping the Hammerheads fed (increases HHead food and reduces infestation per allied HHead with a 2000 unit radius of the Maia) It might seem easy to breed something that doesn't require food, but be warned, baby Maia's must be kept near to an adult as they mature or they will rapidly lose health, and HHeads will not keep down the rate of Louse Infestation of babies as they do to adults (they trust the sharks, but maybe not quite that much)

Hammerhead (Shark):

Vicious, deadly, voracious pack hunters, the rest of the ocean is lucky that this particular species of shark has developed such a liking to the Lice that infest the bodies of Maiabalaena that they pretty much have no interest in anything other than defending their chosen whale and dining all day on a mobile limitless feast. Hammerheads subsist entirely on Whale Lice, so to keep tamed ones going you'll either have to have a tamed Maiabalaena or two around to harvest Lice from, or be prepared to make regular trips into the ocean to harvest wild ones. On the upside they get lots of food per Louse, and it is very good for healing them. Hammerheads excel in groups, they receive a Gang Bonus up to +8, not only that but every time a Hammerhead kills something it becomes Frenzied, increasing it's overall damage and giving it an extra measure of damage resistance. A Hammerhead at full Frenzy will have doubled damage output and receive a 33% damage reduction on top of its Gang bonus. A shoal of Hammerheads is no joke, but they have relatively low health making them somewhat glass cannons. They don't require saddles to be ridden, and are able to use their inherent sharky hammerheadiness to detect nearby threats in poor visibility (Right click gives ESP buff to rider for 30 seconds with 1 minute cool down) Top tip, Hammerheads are great for hunting Lycoteuthis for that sweet, sweet mollusc meat, as they can use their ESP to keep track of the fleeing tentacle boi through the inevitable inky discharge, and are immune to the Squid Ink debuff. Keeping a tamed HHead nearby to a tamed allied Maiabalaena will have benefits for both creatures, keeping the sharks food levels up, and the whales louse infestation levels down.

Females are gentle, docile, will run from danger, can be passive tamed, and are happy to be milked for nutritious Cattle Milk (Via radial menu, will give 2-4 Milk, 30 minute cooldown) users of my Better Dinos mod will find Cattle Milk is functionally identical to Mammal Milk from that mod. For those unfamiliar see details outlined below.

Male Bos are called Bulls, are bigger than females, highly aggressive when wild, and do 50% more damage, also receiving a 10% damage reduction, they must be ko tamed. Tamed Bos can be ridden without a saddle, will harvest trees with left click and bushes with right click

When tamed Bos can be slaughtered in the same manner as Ovis by holding something sharp and selecting it from the radial menu. Bos drop delicious Beef, this can be used for dinos as a direct replacement for Mutton. It can also be used in custom recipes and will give a higher health and stamina percentage than other meats. To be able to cook Beef, you will need to learn and craft the AoA Campfire.

If breeding Bos, you may want to Neuter any male babies that don't have good enough stats to be put to stud. A male Bos neutured as a baby will become a Steer. It will lose the usual damage and resistance increase, however if you then slaughter and harvest it as an adult it will give lots more Beef than usual (scaling with health like Ovis)

Mihirung (Chicken):

Is literally just a chicken. I dunno why, but people keep asking for the chicken. So here's a chicken. It clucks and lays eggs. It's a chicken....

Actually, ignore that, giant chickens y'all! I realised that I actually really like the chickens model and it was a shame to just have it used for essentially a Dodo reskin, so here ya go, giant rideable chickens! The real Mihirungs were more goose like than chicken like, with big bulbous shnozzes, but hey, creative licence will out. Mihirungs have a limited Terrorbird style gliding ability, flapping their little wings like crazy. Not the strongest mount, nor the fastest, definitely not the coolest, but good solid fun to rock around on early doors.

Chickens only eat Seeds, placing them on wander will see them gather seeds in large amounts from bushes with a greater chance of finding them then usual, and when ridden they will only gather seeds from bushes making them a great early source of all types of seeds.

Killing a wild Mihirung will reward you with 2 Mihirung Drumsticks, cos who doesn't love big meaty thighs? These aren't suitable for human consumption, far too tough and gamey, but wild carnivores will love them, and they can be used in the same way as Honey to attract and lure carnivores. This also works to distract Leedsichthys from nomming on your carefully built raft. Put them on your hotbar and use to drop them, exactly the same as honey.

Aurochs (Bull):

Alongside the domesticated cattle in the Bos comes their bigger, nastier, and pointier ancestor, the Aurochs. Having not been too impressed with the Bulls model in Atlas, I think it actually comes alive a bit more in Ark. The wild Aurochs are bad tempered buggers, not liking survivors getting too close to their personal space, these big old hunks of meat and muscle will happily put their impressive head ornaments to good use. Females do have a slightly smaller rack than males, but unlike Bos, both sexes are mean, moody and not too happy to see you, and are equally as strong. Taming an Aurochs though has a host of benefits, females will give milk, although not as much as the selectively bred Bos will, but a charging Aurochs can really wreck someones day, they have a rhino style charge building melee damage with speed, although not to the extent of the Rhino being a bit smaller (up to 4x damage at full pelt), they are also capable of doing a straight line charge attack (RMB) that not only increases their overall speed (keep holding shift for the full speed attack) but inflicts a bleed and slow on anything they hit (5% bleed over ten seconds, and 75% slow)

Why not restart the full domestication of cattle with your Aurochs, by hitching it up to its special Cart Saddle! This small platform dragged behind the Aurochs is just perfect for some chairs to transport friends around, maybe a bit of storage to get mats from place to place, or maybe just stick a cannon on it... Any materials placed in storage boxes on the cart will only have 33% of their weight passed on to the Aurochs (as opposed to 100% as is usually the case with platforms) Aurochs make a good all around tame for transport or combat.

Metridiochoerus (Pig):

This is one warthog for whom hakuna is definitely not matata. Always hungry, always eating, and definitely not fussy what it is they're shovelling down their gullets. If you've seen the film Snatch then I will refer you to Bricktops speech about hungry piggies, if you haven't, well go and watch it, it's a great film. As you'd expect, these little piggies will clear the shop when they go to the market, omnivores that'll scoff down anything, including rare mushrooms and flowers, although with their ability to find aforementioned mushrooms in massive quantities you can safely remove the 'Rare' from their name. Their preferred taming food is Sweet Veggie Cakes, and unlike other omnivores they will indeed receive the health boost that comes with consuming them. The hungrier Metridio's get, the harder they hit, melee damage increasing the lower food gets, up to 2x melee on a totally empty stomach. Killing piggies yields delicious Pork Chops. These operate in the same fashion as Swine Flesh from BD, providing fast healing for carnivores (increased health when compared to normal raw meat with half of the force feed cool down) As with Beef, you can make Cooked Pork Chops in the AoA Campfire. You'll also be able to cook up a mouth watering Full English Breakfast in the AoA Crafting Bench, made using pork, extra small eggs, savoroot, and Rare Mushrooms. Guaranteed a full stomach from this hearty meal, it'll keep your food going up for a full five minutes, and restore a big old chunk of health too. Recently added, Metridio's seem to have developed something of a stomach issue issue since being introduced to the Arks, they've gotten a little, how should I put it... Umm, gassy. When wild or unridden, a piggy who gets reduced to less than 50% health will let rip a massive fart, and then proceed to leg it as fast as their little trotters will carry them. This is definitely not the silent variety, but certainly deadly dealing 5 damage per tick over 5 seconds as it lingers in the air. Even giant carnivores cannot stand the small and will run away from the stench. Riding a Metrio you can put this to good use and make it expel wind on command by pressing right click, but only if it is in need of doing a poop (on the upside you'll be able to let several parps go before it inevitably follows through! A poop icon in your top left corner will let you know when your piggy is ready to go)

It will damage allied players and tames, but not any pigs themselves. Dinos up to a certain size will flee from the cloud. This can only be used when ridden if the Metrio is in need of a poop, there will be a visual indicator in the top left to tell you when it's ready. attempting to use it otherwise will display a Cannot Use message. When you are able to fart the Metrio will automatically poop 2 seconds after unleashing one, but you may be able to let several go in that time. Wild and unridden Metrios will only fart after receiving 50% damage and will then attempt to flee. Be careful as the fart cloud will damage the pigs rider and other allied tames as it lingers around, nobody is safe.

Timber Wolf (Wolf):

The Atlas Wolf looks quite different to it's Ark cousin, and I wanted to include it but obviously the Direwolf does pretty much everything you'd expect a wolf to do so it was hard to really find much to do with it. Therefore the Timber Wolf has been shrunk down to more of a normal size (although still big bois for puppers) retaining it's pack and gang mechanics but with lower overall stats than the Dire's. Unridable, but you can still make the pack leader howl and buff the pack via the radial menu. You can also make your good boys lay down and look adorable as well as receiving a health regen buff (same as chalico/hyaena sitting) As much as I'd like to also have a sitting animation, I just ain't there with animating so the laying down will have to do for now. Very aggressive in packs in the wild, Timber Wolves are passive tames, but to avoid having them tear you limb from limb you'll have to employ the use of something they are afraid of, fire! Hold a torch or be in the close vicinity of a standing torch or campfire and they won't attack unless attacked first, they will also flee if given any sort of fire damaging buff. There may be another thing or two to come in the future with this creature, but they'll be fine companions in the meantime.

Lycoteuthis (Squid):

Little squids ftw! Although of course in this case 'Little' means 'Not ten million foot long!'

Although IRL Lycoteuthis are teeny tiny bioluminesent squid, this is Ark mo-fo's, so they're roughly about the size that the actual IRL Tusoteuthis would have been. They're very pretty, nice and glowy, can be ridden without a saddle and essentially when tamed, are just small Tusos, approximately 1/4 the everything when compared to a Tuso. They can be ridden without a saddle, although one is available, making them rather squishy, but make up for it with a rapid burst of speed after inking, they can of course grab other creatures, anything smaller than a Megalodon, and just like the Tuso will inflict torpor when carrying and drain their victims health. Unlike the Tuso though, you'll find these beauties swimming around at the surface, and they are very very skittish. They will ink and flee pretty much as soon as they take damage. Also unlike the Tuso they are KO tames, prepare to chase them! They have a quite low torpor, and it drops very quickly, just like their bigger cousins they prefer Black Pearls as their fave taming food. So why are they such wusses? Well, quite frankly, everything thinks they're delicious, and they know it! Harvesting a Lyco will give deicious Raw Mollusc meat, Pescavores absolutely love this, basically it is to fish eaters as mutton is to meat eaters, providing more than double the taming effectiveness of Raw Prime Fish meat.

Ludodactylus (Leatherwing):

Egg thieves extraordinaire! These highly aggressive aerial predators will attack most things that move, especially survivors, and look to carry it up the air and drop it to its death! However, if there's anything they love above all else, it's eggs, and they have become something of a specialised egg thief, which you can use to your advantage to both tame one, and then put to good use afterwards.

To tame a Ludo, equip an egg in your 0 slot in your hotbar as for normal passive tames, however, the opportunity will only arise for you to feed it if the Ludo grabs you and carries you upwards. You will want to take something to soak the damage, either be riding a tanky tame or have a shield and good armour at the ready. When it grabs you you'll be able to feed it the egg, it will then lose interest in you for a short amount of time, which is somewhat unfortunate as it will then drop you and let you fall to your doom, so make sure to have parachutes or an Archaeopterx. Rinse and repeat until it tamed. Don't worry (!) if a Ludo grabs you and you're not attempting to tame it it will drop you after a few seconds of holding you. All in all it's not wise to attempt to take on a Ludo if you are not well prepared, on the upside though one good whack will see them fleeing, and they do of course take increased damage from projectiles like other flyers.

Once tamed you will have a pretty fast flyer, somewhere between Ptera and Argent for speed and stats, it can barrel roll, but if pointing downwards a cross hair will appear and pressing C will unless a rapid forward burst of speed dealing damage to anything you hit on the way past, and allowing you to escape from anything that may be chasing you, and if you're using a Ludo correctly things probably will be chasing you, as Ludos can be effectively used to raid wild nests for juicy eggs. Land near to a nest and use left click to attack an egg and the Ludo will collect it and add it to its inventory, doing this will *not* alert any nearby parents like it would if you picked up an egg normally, but of course you still need to get in and out of there so watch your stamina and time your dashes well (also make sure to have some meat on board, as a Ludo will happily scoff down any eggs in it's inventory if it's not otherwise fed)

Ludos can also swim quite happily on the surface of the water, but can also go under the surface by holding down you Alt-Fire button (left control by default) Ludos are very good at harvesting Prime Fish from anything that can drop it. On top of all that Ludos also receive a small gang boost. All in all the Ludodactylus is a fantastic flying addition, especially at home on Scorched Earth or Ragnarok.

Items Dropped By Creatures:

Cattle Milk:

Identical to Mammal Milk from Better Dinos and therefore this is copy and pasted from there;

Obtained by milking female Bos through use of the radial menu. Has to be force fed to dinos, but this is a nutritious baby food. Will continually increase a babies food at the rate of 10 per second for 120 seconds, after feeding a baby dino Milk, it will then only request Milk as its preferred comfort food. The exception is Wyverns who will still only ask for Wyvern Milk. Milk can be fed to all babies except Scorpions, Spiders, Reapers, Mantis' and Moths (the BD versions which are breedable). Feeding Mammal Milk to adult dinos gives them an instant 30 food. A player drinking Milk will recieve a food and water increase over 30 seconds. Regardless of what is consuming the Milk, it always has a 2 minute cool down.

Cattle Milk spoils into...

Spoiled Milk:

Does the exact opposite of Cattle milk and drains food water and health, except when given to baby Crabs, Moths, Spiders, Reapers, Mantis' or Scorpions (Obviously this refers to the Better Dinos versions which have been made breedable) in which case it will have the same effect as regular milk on other babies.

NOTE, if you do run Animals of Atlas alongside Better Dinos, you can now convert AoA milk into BD Mammal Milk by placing it in the preserving bin section of the BD Workbench, giving less items to worry about and more uses for milk

Beef:

Obtained by harvesting Bos. This can be used a direct replacement for Mutton for dino taming. If used in custom recipes will provide a higher percentage of Health or Stamina than regular meats. Can be cooked in the AoA Campfire.

Mihirung Drumsticks:

Dropped two at a time from killing wild Mihirungs. Not recommended for human consumption, but can be used as a lure for wild carnivores only in the same way as honey can be used by equipping it on your hotbar and throwing it on the the ground and yelling 'I THREW IT ON THE GROUND' as you do so. This will also work to distract Leeds away from rafts in the same way as Honey will.

Pork Chops:

Obtained by harvesting Metridiocheorus. This is a highly nutritious meat that will quickly restore lots of health to carnivores when force fed. It gives a higher amount of health than regular raw meat with half of the cool down, it does however spoil faster. As with Beef can be cooked in the AoA Campfire. Similar to the milks, you can convert Pork in to High Protein Meat from Better Dinos by placing it in the preserving bin section of the BD Workbench.

Whale Lice:

Massive horrible pests that infest Maiabalaena and form the backbone of the Whale/Penguin/Shark ecology. Controlling Lice infestations is vital for taming Maiabalaena, they are the only thing that Hammerheads will eat, and are the preferred taming food of Penguins. Obtained by gathering from living wild whales by getting past the sharks that accompany them, and pressing E while looking at the whale, will give between 20 and 100 lice with a 2 minute cooldown between gathering, or will be generated in the inventory of tamed Maiabalaena up to a max of 100. Can now also be gathered by killing and harvesting Maiabalaena.

This Antidote is required to tame Maiabalaena (it's effectively their kibble) and must be given to tamed Maiabalaena fairly regularly to stop them getting re-infested by either force feeding it to them or selecting the option from the radial menu with an antidote in your 0 slot.

Future Creatures to be added in:

Stegadon (Shieldhorn):

Warhammer fans will recognise the Stegadon as one of the beasts used by the Lizardmen which was also depicted as some sort of bastardized quasi ceratopsian. I think with this one, rather than make it massive, I'll shrink it down, I also want to look at replacing the feather textures with some sort of quills, the final use of this creature will depend on how well I can do that. If I can pull it off, then I invisage the Stegadon as some sort of shuffling porcupine style of creature, meandering around rooting in the ground with its tusks, and inflicting painful stabs to anything that attacks it. Spawn wise it could go anywhere really, it would fit in with any of the DLC's especially.

Yeti:

Having only seen the Yeti in Atlas from the back of my bear, I had assumed that they were merely recoloured Gigantopithicus, but now having looked at them in kit, I can see that they've actually remodelled the face and it looks really good. Therefore I see two uses, one, to replace the Yeti in the snow caves, purely aesthetic, but would work well, and two, as a larger above ground version roaming the snow regions. Undecided whether to call them Morlocks or Abominables, they'd be a large carnivorous Ginganto, able to wield tools, and may have a stone throwing ability (users of Better Dinos or Damn Dirty Apes will know where I'm going here) but at the cost of use of zip lines, and not quite as maneuverable. They may get a debuff when not in a snow region.

Rock Elemental

I'm actually very impressed with the Rock Elemental model now that I've seen it properly, it does remind me of a plan I had many moons ago to have tiers of Rock Golems with different degrees of size and toughness that I never followed up on, so I may do that here.

Vulture

Originally I thought of making it a Teratornis, but then realised that other esteemed modders have already done similar with the Ark Vulture, so instead I make it the Roc, the giant bird from legend which was most likely a giant vulture, but glorified as an eagle. It'll be a big boi and ridable. No firm ideas on special abilities just as yet.

Rabbit, Angler, Seagull, Cobra and Rattlesnake, various fish

I really like all of these, will probably add them, they probably won't be anything special.

Creatures whose models I like, but will be used outside of this mod:

There are some models I really like, but it's pretty pointless making them as seperate creatures, but they may have a use elsewhere in other mods of mine. These may also make it into this mod as extras, unsure at this point

Scorpion Now available as a Costume that can be crafted in the AoA Crafting Bench and equipped to vanilla or Better Dinos Pulmonoscorpius, swapping their mesh out to the Atlas variety.

I really like these plans that you have for the Atlas creatures, and I love that they all have unique saddles! If you're looking for suggestions I do have a few, one is maybe to make the shield horn/stegodon an omnivore as there is a possible theory that some ceratopsians might have been omnivorous scavengers with their beaks being powerful enough to strip flesh from bones, so maybe the Argent's scavenger ability would work well there? Though there was an actual creature called stegodon, a close relative to elephants. Speaking of which, I also think that the elephant would be a nice addition as Palaeoloxodon (or perhaps another extinct species) with maybe a few features that separate it from the mammoth. Not sure what you could do with the rhino other than the re-skin you had planned or an entirely fictitious creature. Something funny you could also do with the bear is have it be an Atlas Bear as a pun, with it also being based on the real extinct species and since they lived in Africa they could spawn in Scorched Earth :P

I'd like to see the climbing ability on the tiger, or at least faster movement speed if you decide to keep that exclusive to the thylacoleo, and I do think the added bleed attack sounds like a suitable niche. My only request would be to consider adding the elephant to the animals mod as I believe it's unique on its own even if similar to the mammoth.

Some creatures seem to be direct upgrades of existing ARK creatures, in terms of not only textures but color regions as well. These creatures are the wolf, bear, horse and sheep. It would be neat to see some of these added simply for the upgrade.

All in all, great ideas, really glad someone decided to focus on bringing over the Atlas animals as it just adds a lot of variety and life to the existing worlds.

I'm most excited for the tiger, lion, parrot, penguin, rabbit, crow and ostrich. :D

@B-O-I Atlas Bear! Ha! I like it, consider it considered

@Thoth, yeah I probably will still add the Elephant just for completion. Horse, sheep and wolf maybe. I might just port them in and let people use them as remaps, or add to spawners themselves without anything special about them.

I'd like to put in a vote in favour of the chicken and rattlesnake. Both of them could add some much needed variety to small creatures on Scorched Earth.

The gull too, it would be nice to have a gull in ARK that doesn't look like it just pecked and scraped its way out of the underworld.

A friend and I were actually just recently talking about ideas for implementing the Atlas birds.

She suggested the crow could passively gather materials on wander.

I had suggested the gull could breathe underwater simply as no other shoulder pet can, that alone gives it enough utility to be unique.

The parrot could function like a late game version of the lystrosaurus (would need to be hard to tame, veggie cakes or such).

As if hugging a penguin wasn't incentive enough, perhaps the Atlas Rockhopper penguin could heal nearby allies very slowly when being held. Not well enough to compete with the Daeodon or owl, but well enough to be worth considering to bring into a difficult fight in favour of a weapon. Even if the cuddle animation doesn't work, please keep it in, the model looks so much better and Kairuku being exclusive to very targeted spawns means they are rarely encountered but a rockhopper penguin could use coastal spawns.

If we're considering easter eggs, a rare alpha version called "killer penguin" would be a fun Zoo Tycoon nod.

Leatherwing could be Lurdodactylus, it could have a fish hunting ability similar to Pelagornis, where it can touch the waters surface without dismounting but can't land on it to fish or regain stamina.

I think hammerhead could be tameable. Make it unrideable and give it the Troodons search ability.

While what im about to say will get rid of the cuddling idea for the Penguin and may be a bit silly hear me out.

Make the atlas Penguin into a large ride able Penguin the name for it being Palaeeudyptes. The real species is already rather big but it still might need a bit of a up size or only ride able in the water. I just think a ride able Penguin would be fun even if the atlas Penguin does not look all that like it (in some cases), i also think you can do a lot with it but idk i just hope you like the idea.

That sounds like an awesome backup plan at the very least.

Assuming the animation itself works but has issues with the player holding it, perhaps it could also keep that healing idea, and it could "shelter" players using the animation scaled up (assuming it doesn't look off clipping with the ground).

Yeah i like the idea.

Also on another note what about the Gentle whale???? you can make that into the blue whale in something close, becouse of the size of the other sea creatures it could be even bigger then in real life and it would not be tamable but could have resources on its back.

Also as a vary extra idea it would have special defenders (maybe like a oversized aberrant hammerhead... or a giant eel???) when its being killed and when killed it will drop a special kind of meat that can be fed to dinos to buff or can be transferred to extinction to feed titans to make them last longer, i just think that this would be a more far way to keep your titans as it will be hard af.

Another idea you can be you feed the whale and in turn you can tame some of its special defenders????

Whales get pretty darned big, but unfortunately ARK has considerably less water space available to work with than Atlas, and multiple whale bosses could easily become overwhelming or even overcrowded sharing the same map.

Personally I would keep the humpback scaled down, if not even make it a touch smaller, and go for something in between Ichthy/Meg and Basilo/Dunkleo in terms of tier. From what little I could really observe of it in-game it wasn't that detailed of a model, and it might not look good scaled up.

You could give it the deep water debuff Basilo has (if not at an even shallower depth), but make it an otherwise fairly powerful tame available quite early on. Perhaps even with a platform saddle. Limited application but a solid defensive tame for early water exploration and travel.

I must say though, I love that idea of interacting with a boss to be rewarded with some kind of "minion" tame. Something to keep in mind. If only Atlas had remoras!

I understand and if i said was the case there would only be one or two per map.

But im glad you enjoy my idea to an extent and yea i giant remora would be dope!!!

Also atlas now has deep sea crabs so can we have a smaller ride able karkinos??? (i think it would be cool XD). Anyway im rambling on now XD.

@Mr Freddie, I like the idea, Palaeeudyptes certainly was a hefty boi, certainly big enough to pull a person around in the water, I'll put it in the mixer.

On the subject of the Blue Whale, the model for it is odd to say the least, and yeah it's not that high quality. If I use it, it won't be scaled up too much, it's also kind of hard to think how one might use one, it clearly has baleen, so it's not going to be biting anything. Therefore the idea of using it as a route to acquiring another creature has a lot of merit. Fun fact, when I was doing some research on prehistoric baleen whales, I discovered the existence of Whale Lice that infest baleen whales, a different type of louse for each type of whale and had a vague idea that you would harvest the lice from the whale, so I wonder if these ideas could be combined.

Im glad my ideas could be heard.

Maybe you can harvest a louse (a made up species of louse able the size of a bettle) as a item then use it to craft something to tame a creature like... the Palaeeudyptes (or others).

Ex: over in the colder places a whale swims without harm from the many creatures of the ocean besides the beasts under. Around it swim Palaeeudyptes eating fish around them but sometimes bitting at the whale eating the oversized louses on it as a snack but doing no damage to the whale, but only the younger ones do this. You the player are unable to tame the oversized Penguins with any of the ark or atlas fish so you take the louse from one of the whales and are able to feed them to the younger ones. When tamed they are sub adults and will not take long to grow then ride.

Of course this is just a idea but i wanted to say it.

I was actually thinking the Sharks, like the Basilo has Mantas and Ichthy's following it, I thought it might be cool if the hammerheads had a sort of symbiotic relationship with the whale where they exclusively eat the lice, so the whale and the sharks would be harmless, but if you a) attack the whale the sharks will defend it, or b) try to harvest some lice (which would be like getting prime fish from the Leeds) the sharks would get angry and attack you also which would be bad as you'd have to be unmounted. But then you'd be able to use the lice to tame the sharks. The only question is then what use to make the sharks that would make them worth such a palaver to tame and keep fed. I did consider the Eels as well, but the Atlas Eel is very drab and boring compared to Arks Eel and probably not worth bothering with.
