Settings Resetting? Read here!
So, there are several people reporting that settings are resetting. That sounds terribly terribly irritating. It's also something I cannot reproduce - it works FINE for me. :/

If you are seeing this, there are things you can do to make a solution more likely:

1. If you code, look over my settings code on github and see if you can see anything stupid I did.
2. Tell me your operating system, how you run RimWorld. (are you running it as an administrator?)
3. I need at least one person to download the debug release from the github page (https://github.com/lilwhitemouse/RimWorld-LWM.DeepStorage/releases/) and use that. It will make a bunch of debug trace, and I need to see:
a. what it says when you first open rimworld
b. what it says when you make changes to one of the problem settings
c. (please tell me what setting you changed)
d. what it says when you close the setting windows.
e. what it says the next time you start RimWorld.

Also feel free to invite me over for cookies and milk wile I work on this, if you have a quiet place. Or cats. Cats are good.

Whatever its set as default i guess through steam, but i'll set it to do so manually

Imma try to install the debug version, im assuming i extract it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RimWorld\Mods

and then disable the regular version, and enable the debug in its place

Hmmm, i have both the rar AND the folder moved in there, and they arent showing up in the mod manager >:(

I think what you need to do is have the "LWM.DeepStorage" folder from inside the .zip in the ...\...\Mods folder.

I wasn't thinking in terms of people using Steam switching to the non-steam Mod system ;p I can see it might be a bit ...unfamiliar ;) I added some instructions on the release page; hopefully they make sense - I'm fighting the tail end of a cold (yay being around children with runny noses?) and didn't get enough sleep last night, so all bets are off.

I havent been able to get the debug ver to show up yet, but i did boot my game and realized the settings were saved, i think it MAY be reseeting when mods get changed in any way, load order/adding/removing

Windows 10, running both Steam and RW as admin.

For me, only the experimental settings reset. I lowered global storing time and that has remained saved, as are the rest of the settings. For me the only settings that don't seem to have saved are the custom storage settings. May not be what you're looking for though.

Windows 10, i do not run it as admin, never had the reason to.

As with @ghost - only experimental settings get reset each time i load a save.

Ok, Hopefully actually following directions helps:

1 - Not a coder, so I won't be able to assist on this point

2 - Win10, using default steam settings (not specifically set to admin)

3 - Here is the output log from loading the game using your debug version: https://gist.github.com/HugsLibRecordKeeper/263a3b5f9065817527d89161ceede3aa

a - This is the debug text that comes up on game load: https://pastebin.com/LF3uFKki

b,c - This comes up when a setting is changed (adjusted capacity and max weight of the deep fridge in experimental): https://pastebin.com/kEmGdshv Oddly, it did not throw the exception like it was doing yesterday.

d - No exception thrown, see previous pastebin link for what was in the debug log

e - Output log from a game reload: https://gist.github.com/f72cac8fcc8bdcb3b207270d3fda1f20

Oddly, this was all while I had the Mod_1617282896_DeepStorageMod.xml file set to read-only as before, however it did not throw an exception.

Upon a game reload using your debug version (downloaded 4:51pm today (US Mountain Time), I went back into the settings, and it seems they actually saved.

I'm thoroughly confused now, so hopefully all of this is helpful to you.

Wait. It works now? ....

I wonder if it's because of *STEAM*

*GASP*

Blasphemer!

As an aside, I'm using Fluffy's Mod Manager, which allows you to maintain both a local and a steam version installed, and switch between the two. These tests were performed after actually unsubscribing from the steam version.

So yes, it's entirely possible it's something to do with either steam, or maybe just that version of the mod. The mod manager flagged them both as the same version, but I'm sure it just looks at wherever the version is set in the mod files
