- always when you lose or win the game
- each time you save the game, but not more than once in a four (or so) hours.
So if you do not switch often between different savegames, you can be pretty much sure your map is already in storage close to it's final state (or exactly in it)
So you can try and check, I believe it will work fine.
The mod in this case should be installed manually, because I did not add the mod to epic anywhere and I even don't know if it is supported.
i settled a really nice map which was a pristine ruins, after about 2 lots of 50 raiders drop podded onto my head :)
i cant remember if i made camp with vanilla, once i had secured it, or if i used setup camp mod, but it worked.
for example, if they got attacked by insects, and won, and kept some bodies in the freezer for example, and their base was saved, then "if" that base happens to be loaded up in a ruin, then you might find some partial remains of that freezer, with some of its contents.
for most mods though, i think it can only show gfx of bugs etc, from mods, if you actually also have that mod, so for the most part you are probably ok from mods like starship troopers, but insects are vanilla so if its only the picture you dont like, you could always find the insect gfx in the vanilla game, and edit them into something else :) (just be careful if the game updates or only play offline, or you might get a surprise) :)
btw if you can, also try to think about why you dont like bugs, and maybe with a bit of time and practice (like drawing a picture of a spider on a piece of paper once a day, and then rubbing it out can help to overcome the phobia) :)
Hopefully the dev doesn't mind me replying for them, but... no, the ruins themselves should not "come with" insects. If the map tile already had a cave, and the ruin happened to spawn on top of/inside it, then you might find some. But since I am assuming you removed the insect "faction" from your game when you started it, you should be safe. This mod saves blueprints of buildings and objects, but not of entities, which are pawns and other living things like animals or insects. In other words: If your game can't spawn random insects normally, because of removing them at the start, this mod won't change that. It doesn't spawn any creatures.
Locations from planetary ruins feature can't be spawned individually, because their whole point is to be spawned at a certain fixed place of the planet. So there are two ways to have more strongholds:
1) select another seed for your next playthrough, with more submitted maps. More maps - more chances to get a stronghold.
2) install content mods. the game determines class of a structure for your particular game based on what items can be spawned and what can't. So if you have more mods and can spawn more items, you will get more wealthy ruins in general and more of them could be qualified for being a stronghold. This can be done even on your current map.
So...with seed you mean in pre-world generation, and more submitted maps meaning downloading more blueprints?
And well, content mods...there isn't exactly a few mods to choose from...
The only maps that have ruins on them now are the seeds I know I've already used, example "Purple" seed works fine but "Blue" seed seems to download maps, instantly finish the 'transfer' part, and then load up No ruins onto the map regardless of what settings I seem to put the mod to.
Any thoughts of what is going wrong here?
