maybe i missed it, but i didn't see the answer to this question; when/how does real ruins save copies of my bases to the cache if i'm in local mode?

can i hit a button to make the mod save a copy of my base to the cache if i decide i'm done with a colony?
It does it in the same way as for online mode:
- always when you lose or win the game
- each time you save the game, but not more than once in a four (or so) hours.
So if you do not switch often between different savegames, you can be pretty much sure your map is already in storage close to it's final state (or exactly in it)

i want to download all database to see more ruins in my game
All database is about 40Gb and you really don't need it, because most ruins are pretty much the same. After the first hungred thousands of blueprints I haven't noticed much variability increase to be honest. Large database is useful for planetary ruins feature, not for regular playthrough.

Would it be possible to add an option that only uses Vanilla and maybe Vanilla extended assets? Most of these pristine ruins i am running across are basically devoid of anything but items sitting on the ground.
Unfortunately, not. The whole point of the mod is storing map as is, without analysing map's contents. On one hand it allows the mod to store and share maps between any users with any mod lists. On the other hand, this means that the mod does not (and can not) have information is an item vanilla or not. At least the server does not have this information and can not provide maps filtered by items.

Question about this mod; Does it work with the game on separate "platforms" e.g. EpicGames? I've had pretty good success with other mods nice and easy, but as this is connecting to dedicated servers will that impact its use?
Did not check it, but can't imagine any reasons why it should fail.
So you can try and check, I believe it will work fine.
The mod in this case should be installed manually, because I did not add the mod to epic anywhere and I even don't know if it is supported.
is there any way to convert ruins into a settlement? I have had a really rough start on my colony and the ruins are perfect. I have stayed at the ruins for several days and nothing severe has happened. However my colonists dont seam to try to repair the ruins and on the map it is still ruins. I think i can still send caravans so it isnt a critical problem but it would be nice to officially convert it into a settlement
hi its possible :)
i settled a really nice map which was a pristine ruins, after about 2 lots of 50 raiders drop podded onto my head :)

i cant remember if i made camp with vanilla, once i had secured it, or if i used setup camp mod, but it worked.
Are there any insectoids in the ruin event things? I just want to be safe since I have a severe phobia of bugs and am trying to avoid them
hi theres probably a good chance that "someone's" base has some.
for example, if they got attacked by insects, and won, and kept some bodies in the freezer for example, and their base was saved, then "if" that base happens to be loaded up in a ruin, then you might find some partial remains of that freezer, with some of its contents.

for most mods though, i think it can only show gfx of bugs etc, from mods, if you actually also have that mod, so for the most part you are probably ok from mods like starship troopers, but insects are vanilla so if its only the picture you dont like, you could always find the insect gfx in the vanilla game, and edit them into something else :) (just be careful if the game updates or only play offline, or you might get a surprise) :)

btw if you can, also try to think about why you dont like bugs, and maybe with a bit of time and practice (like drawing a picture of a spider on a piece of paper once a day, and then rubbing it out can help to overcome the phobia) :)

Hopefully the dev doesn't mind me replying for them, but... no, the ruins themselves should not "come with" insects. If the map tile already had a cave, and the ruin happened to spawn on top of/inside it, then you might find some. But since I am assuming you removed the insect "faction" from your game when you started it, you should be safe. This mod saves blueprints of buildings and objects, but not of entities, which are pawns and other living things like animals or insects. In other words: If your game can't spawn random insects normally, because of removing them at the start, this mod won't change that. It doesn't spawn any creatures.
Is there any way to spawn individual structures in some way? With dev tools you can only trigger the pristine ruins quest, and a "corrupted" military POI. I'm asking because in a world with 30% coverage, decent density and 14 factions ,there's only 1 stronghold in the planet, and the rest is just factories, camps and ruins, and I was interested in seeing more strongholds, specially when the only one there is has the same blueprint over and over. Maybe a tool to redo the map spawn or something.

Locations from planetary ruins feature can't be spawned individually, because their whole point is to be spawned at a certain fixed place of the planet. So there are two ways to have more strongholds:
1) select another seed for your next playthrough, with more submitted maps. More maps - more chances to get a stronghold.
2) install content mods. the game determines class of a structure for your particular game based on what items can be spawned and what can't. So if you have more mods and can spawn more items, you will get more wealthy ruins in general and more of them could be qualified for being a stronghold. This can be done even on your current map.

So...with seed you mean in pre-world generation, and more submitted maps meaning downloading more blueprints?
And well, content mods...there isn't exactly a few mods to choose from...
Having a problem figured I'd ask here; the game seems to be downloading maps and quickly loading them in; only to then NOT spawn anything on the world map, regardless of settings.

The only maps that have ruins on them now are the seeds I know I've already used, example "Purple" seed works fine but "Blue" seed seems to download maps, instantly finish the 'transfer' part, and then load up No ruins onto the map regardless of what settings I seem to put the mod to.

Any thoughts of what is going wrong here?

Button to switch reform caravan type to instant simply does not work. Clicking on it does nothing. I cannot exit the map with all of my caravan because some of the animals just sleep and refuse to exit, meaning trying to do so results in losing some of my animals, which is pretty dumb.

Same issue, no world outposts are spawning.
