RimWorld

SF Grim Reality

Compatibility
This mod is totally compatible with (tested):

Rainbeau Flambe's Rational Romance (And all of his other mods).

ALL mods that have nothing to do with thoughts, feelings, or situtations. (I.e. All animal mods, map mods, gun mods, etc.)

This mod is PROBABLY compatible with (untested):

Other mood mods like the one that makes you even more awful than you already are in Rimworld. Just put this one above or below the other depending on which you want to win the conflicts they have. Should work.

Most mods. Seriously, if it doesn't alter thoughts, feelings, or situations, this probably works together.

This mod is INCOMPATIBLE with:
Lord of the Rims: Hobbits (I have had reports that it overwrites values. No patch exists at this time.
Mods that you don't need if you're using Grim Reality:
Greyer Morals Mod.
Selling prisoners with no guilt
Looks Don't Matter On The Rim
Less Stupid Romance Attempt
[1.0] Less Rebuff
CCP's Mental Break Tweaks
Respect the Scars [1.0]
Anything else that rebalances moods/thoughts/needs. If you have something with one value or so that you want to tweak, put it below this mod to get the overwrite, though I can't promise it won't conflict if the mod author didn't use xpathing.

Again: If you find a mod this works with or doesn't work with, PLEASE report in this thread so I can update this space.

Thanks space pirates! Have fun!

Yes.
It only changes values in thought defs and situation defs. It won't break anything.

In regards to the Psychology compatibility: by "put this below it", do you mean put Psychology below Grim Reality of the other way around? This might be a stupid question, but I got myself confused about what you meant by "this"

Also: does "below it" mean physically lower in the load order display or with a lower load order number? e.g. if Core is #1, and Grim Reality is #2, then Core can be thought of as numerically "lower" than GR, just not visually per the display

Grim Reality below Psychology. Sorry. :)
In the load order, the top of the list loads first. So you put HubsLib at the top then any cores for mods you use. This means they load before the mods that require them. Each mod down the list loads after the one above it. The last mod on your list at the bottom is the last to load. If it uses any defs that a mod above it uses, the last mod will win the conflict and it's value will be used. It is possible that the conflict won't be compatible at all and errors will occur, so it's always best to avoid using mods that do the same thing if they don't have a patch.

When people say "put it lower on the list" they mean literally vertically lower. The last mod at the bottom is the lowest on your list. I hope this helps. :)

Oh thank you so much. That's much clearer. I apologize for making it more confusing than it actually is. I very much appreciate the explanation! :)

In the comments, you mentioned that this is only pseudo-compatible with Psychology. Do you know specifically what parts it conflicts with? If it's only the thoughts, then that's perfectly fine with me; I greatly prefer Grim Reality's thought balance. However, I do really love Psychology's social, mental illness, and Kinsey scale systems. I've never suspected that they would conflict, but just in case, will Grim Reality interfere with those at all?
StarlightSovereign  [developer] Sep 19, 2019 @ 5:43pm
No problem. And I don't know I've never much cared for Psychology. The Kinsey scale is inherently flawed. For similar stuff, use Rainbeau's Ration Romance and Therapy mod by Orion. Get similar effects, but they're compatible.
AmbiguousMonk Sep 20, 2019 @ 5:22pm
I like the complexity of Psychology's Psyche system, but I agree that the Kinsey scale is less than ideal. That and I've been wanting a social/romance experience in RimWorld that I can actually more directly witness, since Psychology is all pretty much behind the scenes. I've actually stopped using psychology in my recent save and started using Rational Romance instead.

Therapy proved to be trivializing the game for me since bad thoughts basically disappeared absurdly quickly, which took much of their impact away. I'd love Therapy if there was an easy way to directly influence the balance, but there wasn't last time I tried it. I'm using Rim Disorders right now in it's place, but I'm not super happy with it's implementation of it's actual disorders

Mmm. I don't know. I like Rainbeau's Rumors and Deception or whatever I think it's called that. It doesn't do mental illness but it does add some more spice to interactions.
I don't know if Therapy has any XMLs one could edit, but if so, might adjust it there.
I may have a look when I get time.
I'm not sure how long it'd take for me to make a patch. I'm moving atm and about to start a new job.
But if you know how to basically work with XML might give it a look there meanwhile if I were you.

Do you know of any issues with the "Bad People" mod? It's a mod that adds in one or two traits and allows pawns to become cannibals overtime if they eat enough human meat
StarlightSovereign  [developer] Nov 8, 2019 @ 11:19pm
I don't know for sure, but if it doesn't change existing thoughts and moods, it should work.
Check in the files and see which defs are changed. If you can tell me the names of changed defs, I can answer.
Defs> ThoughtDefs >Yeah it might conflict. Tell me which ones and I can take a look. Might can patch depending what it is.
Defs> Not ThoughtDefs > Should be groovy.

Also thanks for telling me about tha tmod. That sounds awesome.

I don't know specifically, but my guess is throw GR below it and you'll be fine.

I think don't work with no disturbed sleep mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1402856775

If you put that mod below this mod it might work, but I can't guarantee.

Ah, excellent. It's compatible with Rational Romance and Psychology. With most of my favorite mods updated, this means that I'm ALMOST ready to start playing RimWorld. Yes, "start" as in "play for the first time". I'm a mod- fiend, what can I say? Now all I need is for OHU dropships to be updated, and that should be done by January, in theory.
I dont recommend psycology master modder man

Psychology, just put this below it to keep the balance in place.

In the mod's frontpage you mention it might not be compatible with Psychology, but here you say that it i. Should probably change one or the other to clear any confusions.

I think this mod may prevent certain aspects of Vanilla Social Interactions Expanded from firing - things like hanging out, dates, one night stands etc.

Would need others to corroborate.
