Darkness Falls quests not available?
I know this game is ancient, but I see a little bit of activity here so I figured I'd ask...

TLDR: Darkness Falls quest giver isn't giving anything. How do I trigger him to give the quests so I can get the keys for the thrice-locked chest?

Longer version:
Hit with nostalgia, so I've been re-playing TL2 and the Synergies Mod. First playthrough was an elite outlander dual pistols venomous hail crit build. I progressed through Darkness Falls until I got to the Dragon Tower and I'm stuck because the 2nd dragon won't land. Didn't account for the damage reduction de-buff so was very much a glass cannon (that did a ridiculous amount of damage). Rather than re-work my socketables, and since I couldn't progress with the dragon not landing, I...

Made a new character - Berserker - dual wield voidsabers w/ wolfpack. This time around, I made sure I had enough damage reduction to keep it at 75% even through the Darkness falls de-buff. Full set of Harbinger/Draketalon armor. Waltzed right through Oa'rk Pass/Basin without breaking a sweat. Got to Darkness falls and...nothing.

No quests given, so as I go around fighting all the bosses and clearing the mini-dungeons, they are dropping loot, but no keys. I left, returned, re-rolled the map...nothing.

Any ideas?

From the original post explaining the DF quest:

"You will find Reghir the quest giver in the southern reaches of Darknessfalls, in order to acquire his quest you must have talked to Drek in Tablemountain previously."

You might need to have completed the emberstep quests too, I'm not too sure since it's been a while. You don't actually gain much by doing that quest however (just an angelic soul and some soulstones).

That did it. Re-rolling the map and talking to Drek again unlocked the quest. Thanks again!

Just finished the last boss - I only got a couple of soulstones and an angelic soul from the thrice-locked chest, so that was a huge letdown.

Random thoughts
I've fought Abe multiple times and I have never been able to get the challenge chest (finish him off before his crew can hide it). Not sure how I could kill him any faster.

The Necromancer in the lumber mill was the hardest boss by far - I died multiple times to his minions since they are doing a ton of damage while he continues to attack.

It seems like farming the earlier bosses is more profitable

The challenges are really hard for a solo player. I'm not even sure they are possible on all classes. Some builds just don't have enough DPS to kill fast.

That's where having people to play with would be ideal. I used to run DF with a friend. With 2 players it already becomes much easier as one can DPS while the other plays a more survival build.

Mmm The thrice locked chest wasn't meant to be a smorgasbord so to say, it already has you gaining so much on the way to finishing it. But I will look at its loot table to see if it should be less of a let down, thx for that feedback!

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across like that - I appreciate all of the work you did, I just wasn't sure if I had messed something up. I have since geared up with more richelieu and am farming all of the bosses in a rotation. My engineer just reached level 100 and made it to Darkness Falls, so I'm curious how they'll stack up compared to my Berserker

I'm very late to the Synergies experience. I played the heck out of TL2 back when it first came out and only recently went back to it and found that the mod scene exploded.
