all map have oil fields, they are generated for existing saves too, to see the fields you need to select to build a well, and you need a working resource console on the map, and to see deep oil fields you need deep scanners too.
I know this seems unnecessarily masochistic, but can you add mod options to make it so some maps only spawn deep wells, or no oil at all (alternatively, making it environmentally dependent, so no shallow oil on ice sheets, and more oil in deserts)? Seems kinda strange that all maps ALWAYS spawn oil, I like to try to run semi-realistic runs. Plus might also help with SOS2, but pretty sure that mod is working on disabling OIL... IN... SPACE...!

i had to make it uniform over all map types else i would always get complaints from people wanting to use it on a certain biome, and the space mod is so far from vanilla rimworld that you can't really support things like that properly
Ah, sweet sweet complaints... That's why I was wondering if like some check boxes could be added, checked or unchecked by default so to keep everything the same, but would allow for some individual customization. Still, seems as though that might not be worth the effort, or at least the further complaints.

well if you open the debug actions menu you can open the rimefeller debug tools, then open the tweak values menu and scroll to the bottom where you should see a set of values for rimefeller, if you whack the 2 clamps to max and hit reroll then the oil grid should be empty, and you can tweak them for whatever result you want, but you would need to do it before the map loads, its not per biome or per save, that would require a whole ui for a dictionary of values
