You/ your tribe actually needs to deplete whatever X% you have set, as opposed to its health reaching X%. This means if it's unimpressed when you damage it, or it receives damage from other dinos or the environment, it'll still damage the dino you're trying to tame, but won't actually count towards the taming progress.
"You/ your tribe actually needs to deplete whatever X% you have set"
Does this mean we can change the combat health pool vs literal health pool?
Combat health pool would be at about 1% Then its literal health pool was also at about 1% *We use a mod to view stats and health of the dinos* So if he hit one more time with anything, he would have killed it at the same time as taming it. But it would have been dead. "We come to this conclusion due to the previous attempt with the rock drake having been killed with the same scenario.
There's no option to switch between X% health depletion to make a dino friendly / dino overall health = X% to make a dino friendly. If that's what you're asking.
There IS an option to adjust the amount of health that is required to deplete though. Can be found changed using admincheat ScriptCommand ITSettings on SP or local MP as host, or via the journal on dedicated/ unofficial server.
Combat Damage Requirement
Overall percentage of health that is required to be depleted to prove your worth to a combat tame (0.5 = 50%).
If you're using a mod to view stats, it should also show taming increasing as you damage the dino, allowing it to become friendly one it reaches 25%.
Example...
Dino has 10000 health, and you set the Combat Damage Requirement to 0.35. 10000 * 0.35 =3500, meaning you would have to inflict 3500 damage to reach 25% taming to make the dino friendly. Causing, say, 1750 damage, taming would only be 12.5% etc.
Hope this helps.
[EDIT]
The issue is we are at .5 on the combat damage requirement, and he took it down to 1% health left. With the hud saying "X dino is impressed."
