Q. How does CalFree in Chains compare to the official campaign?
A. You don't have as much choice between missions as in Dragonfall or Hong Kong, but more choice than in Shadowrun Returns. Individual missions are probably closest to Hong Kong, but a bit more combat-heavy.

Q. How does CalFree in Chains compare to your other campaigns?
A. I wanted to combine my favorite aspects of Antumbra Saga (challenging boss fights, environmental puzzles, epic storyline) with the stuff I liked most about The Caldecott Caper (deeper crew interactions, more roleplaying opportunities, optional romance). So hopefully it will feel like a mix of the two. Overall design and polish is probably closer to The Caldecott Caper, though.

Q. Should I play the prequels before this?
A. My general recommendation is to play The Caldecott Caper before CalFree in Chains. You can skip Antumbra Saga unless you’re very into the story and setting. Feel free to jump directly into CalFree in Chains, though. The relevant information from The Caldecott Caper is communicated in-game.

Q. Can I import my character from The Caldecott Caper?
A. No. CalFree in Chains features a new protagonist with a new personal storyline. Your runners from Antumbra Saga and The Caldecott Caper still exist in the continuity of CFiC: you won't see them, but will occasionally hear news about them.

Q. How much nuyen / karma will I get?
A. It depends on the optional rewards you pursue, but most players will probably end up with a little less karma and a little more nuyen than the main (non-expansion) Hong Kong campaign.

Q. Can I kiss people in this game and how do I kiss them.
A. Romance is completely optional. It will impact your character’s story, but doesn’t provide mechanical benefits. If you’re interested, you will have opportunities in-game for your character to express interest in these types of relationships.


Q. I'm underground. How do I kill Shavarus?
Hint: Look at the candles along the walls.

Q. I have color blindness. How can I complete the light puzzle during LOW EBB?
A. If you're having difficulty with the puzzle for any reason, you can bypass the puzzle using the steps described in this screenshot[imgur.com].

Q. Why do I keep dying all the time???
A. There’s more combat in CalFree in Chains than in most Hong Kong missions. You’ll occasionally have opportunities to bypass battles with clever decisions and use of skills, but more often will be forced to fight your way through. You might want to play one difficulty level lower than you did in Hong Kong, especially if you don’t use a combat-focused build.

Q. The game gets really slow and choppy in one scene, with a really bad framerate. What do I do?
A. This has been reported by a few players in the LOW EBB mission. Try disabling HD Textures in the Options menu. You may need to restart the level and/or the game for the change to take effect. This only has a small impact on the look of the game, but can significantly improve performance.
