Steam Vent removal?

I'm on a lava field map with steam vents everywhere. Great for power generation, not so great for construction. How do I remove them?

...maybe debug mode > action list > destroy > select(click) steam vents?...

I just work around it. If you put any buildings on basalt there's a chance a steam vent will appear under or in it. This is really awful if it happens. I had one guy die from heatstroke in his sleep because a steam vent opened in his room overnight.
