Is Gor-Rok really "Easy"? (Vortex)
This may be because of SFO, but this is my first time playing Gor-Rok. I'm having a lot of fun, but its also kind of hard.

Between fighting Ikit, Queek, Vampire Coast, Empire, there is a lot going on. Sure, Korak is OP af. But you can only do so much against 3-4 Ikit armies, 2 Queeks and 2 Vampire Coast.

Is there something I should be doing? I'm on Hard for Campaign and Very Hard in battle. I just can't seem to keep up. By turn 20 Ikit has 4 armies, albeit Slaves and Clan rats, but still, 4 armies lol.

Anyone have any tips on how to deal with these rats and pirates? :D

As much as I main lizards I don't play vortex so don't really have any proper tippers there since the map is kinda poorly designed for H2H.

Compared to vanilla gorok is a shadow of himself in SFO (as a faction anyway); kroak no longer has free upkeep while infantry saurus are just kinda meh for their price tag. Granted I don't think any of these things are bad since in vanilla he's ridiculously overtuned but it's def gan take some finesse.

If vortex itza is anything like ME then itza gives econ bonuses to surrounding provinces, find whichever province has the most econ potential and grab that first, in ME it's skrolks province. Secondly recruit feral cold ones because it is by far one of the most cost effective units in SFO + you will prob have picked the skink attendents slann debuff (+25% recruitment cost) so cheap is def gan help + they utterly slap rats. If yer like me and don't like picking up units that you don't plan to get the army skills for don't worry, feral cold ones dont need it. Another tip; once you recruit your first blessed, smash that rite of primeval glory and funnel all the useful crap to flesh out what will prob be goroks pitiful army up until this point at which point he should be able to stand toe to toe with the other factions. You'll have had to finish your upkeep redux support tree first though. Also grab the movement + ambush success from the bottom tree early and just bait the enemy armies by having a single lord in forced march near the enemy while gorok stands next to em in ambush. This is particularly useful early game when even kroaks mighty slann back can't carry gorok and his 4 saurus units to victory against multiple 10x strength armies.

My late game comp for gorok is 10 blessed saurus, 1x kroak, 4-5 ancient sallies and the rest feral stegadons: saurus provide the front line, ancient sallies make sieges a breeze and can thread high damage supporting hits to your front line + they're fast and in melee can respond to various threats, and the feral stegs provide your anti cav flanks. (this comp is only relevant if you use army caps.) Comp also allows him to field a powerful army while minimizing point cost into his army tree so you can grab that sweet lizard support tree instead. Kinda bad against rats though but ideally you would have killed them off by then, if not just field a supporting army with a line of feral cold ones + regular krox to run them over.

some of this I already do and some i did not do. I will try this!

I have, after this post,m successfully quelled Ikit, and Queek, now only to over run by Pestilin LOL! Vamp Coast are at war but are not attacking me anymore, I assume they are dealing with the rats too.

To be fair,

I love Skaven. Easily my fav. race to play as, but i will be damned if they don't get on my nerves HAHA!

Thanks for your reply, and some tips you gave. The funny thing is i never noticed Kroaks upkeep till i took him off my army a few days back. I only just finished Vortex with non-DLC lords, now im onto DLC.

Vortex is not as fun as ME but i don't mind the story.

Hahah, get em boi!

If any of that helps im glad, took me alot of restarts to play gorok in SFO because despite what the campaign roster says, it sure isn't easy.
