"easiest" faction to play?
I am curious to know what is the best faction to start playing as. Any tips? I started a New Republic campaign and noticed pretty much all warlords start out with praetor 2's so the game is pretty difficult at the start. New Republic ships feel like they have no firepower so I don't know what to do with this faction.

Any thoughts?

NR's a very easy start for an experienced player since there's a lot of opportunity targets, but if you want a quiet corner to get used to the mod I'd suggest Pentastar or CSA.

Era 2 NR also consolidates your forces a fair bit and is a lot easier for new players, you can change the starting era with the slider in the GC setting tab.

easy? I guess it seems that since I'm fairly new to empire at war, that the mod feels brutal. i managed to almost kill that pesky praetor 2 though, so I guess I'm not really in a bad position. thanks for the suggestions, though.

btw any chance you guys have any gameplay guides to the mod?

NR era 1 is pretty difficult for a new player but once u get some experience it gets a lot easier. If you need to play Era 1, you must choose which part of the galaxy you want to secure first. It is a good idea to focus on south west/southern part of the galaxy and abandon the rest (move all units south, sell units from isolated planets and sell all buildings on abandoned planets). Conquering independent planets and fighting Eriadu Authority is your first objective in this case. It shouldn't be too difficult. Once you secure the south you shall have some income generating planets (build mining facilities on planets with base income of >100) safely secured by choke points. After that you should be able to expand wherever you like. During the first stage of the above mentioned process you'll want to use hit and run tactics as much as possible to preserve your forces. You might want to watch some yt videos for some cheesy details of fighting the AI

I've had it quite easy playing Pentastar and Zsinj.
I haven't played every faction yet, though. So it's possible there's one which is even easier.

I recommend playing the thrawn first since it’s just nr and empire with no ssds, other PA or EA are good ones to start with since EA has the A6 on ground which makes taking the ground easy

Definately Pentastar

There aren't any gameplay guides as such, but if you want gameplay that can teach you something I advise watching some of Corey's playthroughs

Pentastar has a great starting position that makes it easy to turtle and slowly push out from, they're definitely the most new player friendly faction IMO
