As detailed elsewhere, I have been playing with the Diverse Special and Massive Planets(?) mod. It's nice to see a little more variety in planet resources. However, I seem to have encountered some quirky issues in how base-game MOO does not handle negative resource generation well.

So, here is the feature I'd like to be added: if a negative resource (like hammers or beakers, but not food) is to be applied against a target, make the resource value "0".

For example, say I colonized a planet with a special resource that applies a -5 penalty to hammer production. So, I assign a worker to production, but the net production is still -4 hammers per turn. If I want to build a Factory (that requires 40 hammers) there, as the game is currently coded, it then requires 44 hammers to construct next turn -- and gets larger and larger each subsequent turn.

But if the feature I requested is implemented, 0 hammers would be applied each turn instead.

I do not play with that mod, since I find it unbalanced due to the AI not handling it at all. I’m not willing to make changes in the code base for something I cannot easily test.

Normally I work with the mod author for testing. If they are willing to create test scenarios and do testing then sure I would make adjustments.
