To sum up the issue:
When trying to imprint on a wild baby creature like the Ironwood Ent you wont be able to interact with it because technically you arent the breeder.
An easy solution for this is to download the mod "Dino Storage V2", for those unfamiliar with it...the mod essentially works like Cryopods do, but much much better. A side effect of capturing a creature during the maturation process is that the imprint demand will randomize after release. So say it was asking to be pet before, it might ask for a walk after capture and release. Because of this it will allow you to imprint it.
So to sum up the solution:
Download Dino Storage V2 Mod and use the Soul Trap on the creature that cant be imprinted. After Capturing, Release it and you should be able to imprint it now.
