Automated Farming Module Mod for Space Engineers

NOTE: For a more immersive experience with farming Planting Automation

This mod adds a new production block called the "Automated Farming Module" which allows you to automatically produce food items from seeds without needing to plant them manually in farm plots.

This mod adds 3 new production blocks which allow you to automatically produce food items from seeds without the need of manual planting in farm plots.

The First stage new block type is AutomatedFarmingModule - utilizes the farm plot model
The Second stage new block type is AutomatedFarmingModule Alpha - utilizes the food processor model
The Third stage new block type is AutomatedFarmingModule Beta - utilizes the irrigation system model, used this since this block is no longer required when using this mod.

UPDATED 9/23/25 - BALANCE UPDATE & EXPANSION
Balancing of the cost to build the automated farm blocks has been adjusted, rather than make the farm plot more expensive to build I have done the following to add balance to this automation:

Our automated farm plot block has NOT had building cost adjusted, rather I made the assembly speed of this block cut by 50%. So it will actually take twice as long to plant using our automated block than the farm plot block.

I also added 2 more versions of the automated planting block to create a progression line of building, these blocks require more advanced components to construct and also their operational requirements have changed.

Automated Alpha block produces just as fast as the vanilla farm plot block, but the operational power consumption is half that of the auto farm block.

The Automated Beta block produces at twice the speed as a farm plot but requires 3 times the operation power, this is also very expensive to build, requiring gravity components in the construction process.

NOTE: I chose not to get rid of the automated farm plot block as to avoid players using this mod from losing their built automated farms. I dont plan to remove this block at all, later updates will hopefully expand the animation stages for this block. PLEASE report any lose of blocks when updating this mod as it is not supposed to remove any blocks already built

Features:
- New large block based on the Farm Plot design
- Four new crafting recipes for automated food production
- Uses ice as a water source for growing food
- Higher production yield than manual farming (3 items per seed)

Recipes:
1. Fruit Seeds + 480 Ice = 3 Fruit (60 minutes production time using auto farm plot block)
2. Vegetable Seeds + 700 Ice = 3 Vegetables (90 minutes production time using auto farm plot block)
3. Grain Seeds + 144 Ice = 3 Grain (20 minutes production time using auto farm plot block)
4. Mushroom Spores + 300 Ice = 3 Mushrooms (40 minutes production time using auto farm plot block)

Recipe 1 - Alpha Production block (30 minutes)
Recipe 2 - Alpha Production block (45 minutes)
Recipe 3 - Alpha Production block (10 minutes)
Recipe 4 - Alpha Production block (20 minutes)

Recipe 1 - Beta Production block (15 minutes)
Recipe 2 - Beta Production block (22.5 minutes)
Recipe 3 - Beta Production block (5 minutes)
Recipe 4 - Beta Production block (10 minutes)

How to use:
1. Place the Automated Farming Module on your station or ship
2. Supply it with seeds and ice through inventory or conveyor system
3. Select the recipe you want to produce
4. The block will automatically produce food items without manual intervention

Note: This mod requires the Apex Survival Kit DLC to function properly as it uses assets from that DLC.

Ive made models for other games just never for SE so I will do my research and study up as I can. Its definitely something I would like to add to the mod, just lots of projects in simultaneous development.

@Nichollae: It would require creating new models. If that is beyond your current skill set and you aren't able and/or willing to expand it, fair enough; it's a free mod and learning to model requires a serious investment in time and effort. (That being said, there are a *LOT* of modelers about, and perhaps one of them would be willing to take on that role for your mod.)

@Keith, I understand now. I will explore how this can be achieved, I really dont know how this can be achieved without making a new block, but Ive written it into my notes for the mod.

@Nichollae: One 10x1x1 block that would take up the physical space of 10 1x1 separate blocks, like the new 'decorative floors' block set includes a single 3x3x1 plate that replaces 9 separate blocks, making creating large floors 9 times faster. ...and, unlike the single 1x1x1 farm plots, the 10x1x1 (or w/e) 'farm plot row' would only need a single conveyor to connect all of them, making setting up logistics MUCH easier.

@Keith if I am understanding you correctly, you are saying to make a version of the farm plot block that would say take the place of 10 of the OG farm plots, so would basically operate at 10x the automated farming plot added in this mod? or am I misunderstanding you?

@Nichollae: I hadn't thought of simple rescaling. I was thinking of mashing the appropriate number of farm plots together into a single model with a single connector for all of them as a way to simplify layout and reduce the time spent placing each one individually.

For example, creating 1x2/3/5/10/etc. rows with a connector at each end would mean you would only need a single, central 'path' of conveyor junctions to connect all of them together, as wide as you would like, as you could daisy-chain the rows.

(A half-height version using small conveyor ports on the ends would also be nice.)

@Keith There are now 2 new blocks that are larger and more efficient as you "upgrade". Ive never made models for SE and from my experience simply adjusting the size of the model through the XMLs creates problems with the conveyor system connections. I will look into how this can be done for a future update

As farms generally use a lot of plots and placing them all individually can be tedious with a large farm, would you be willing and able to set up models for 2x2/3x3/5x5/etc. or perhaps long rows of singles?
