Description
Bandits

IMPORTANT: The mod has been updated to new major version for B42 and B41. It is best to start a new save. You can also re-enable the mod for a current save, but this may lead to errors. Bandits2 introduces many changes and it's best to stop for a moment to read about the changes.

This mod introduces hostile (NPC) bandits into the game. Please be aware that the enemies in this mod are extremely dangerous, and provide an extent of challenges. Treat them as actual players when it comes to combat. You will need to relearn how to survive.

Bandit Spawning
Initially, a small groups of armed individuals with melee weapons appear in the world. Over time, much larger groups armed with handguns and rifles will arrive to take your head. In multiplayer on the other hand, this happens independently for each player. Newer players will have more so simple bandits attacking them, whereas long term players will have stronger bandits attacking them.

Bandit Customization
Some general customization is done via sandbox settings just like for any other mods.

Customization of bandit looks, weapons and spawn settings is now controlled by Bandit Creator which is a separate mod you need to subscribe to in order to make changes.

What you need to know about v2 version
  • Besides killing you, bandits can steal items from you base, sabotage your generators, vehicles or crops.
  • Bandits can destroy things: obstacles and furniture blocking their way, destroy doors and windows, destroy or remove barricades, naturally they can also simply open doors or gates.
  • They can have different extra traits which determine their extra skills
  • They carry different loot depending to their profession and skills
  • They will resupply with weapons or ammo from dead corpses and containers nearby.
  • Some of them rarely may bite you as a recently infected desperate individuals.
  • They don't know where you are until they see you or until they hear you.
  • They can shoot all weapons, including shotguns, revolvers or rifles with scopes, weapon range depends on weapon now.

Troubleshooting
There are no bandits
Do not turn off zombies in your world completely. Otherwise Bandits will not spawn. Turning off zombie respawn is ok.
Their spawning has a large random factor. But if they don't spawn for 5-7 consecutive days then something may be wrong.

IThere is too many bandits
Use Bandit Creator mod to tune the right amount for you.

Thanks solely to the creator of this mod, I died roughly 6 months, 3 days, 2 hours, 20 minutes, and 17 seconds ago. I was then called a "Loser" by the NPC that shot me. This infuriated me and caused me to leave a discord server that was filled with my "friends" after they berated me.

Is it glitched/broken for B41 local host multiplayer? It only works in SP for me. Tried running a MP local config with only bandits and bandits creator enabled but no fix whatsoever

I'm playing in Louisville. Bandits keep spawning on the roof of 1 story houses.
They are stuck on the building.
Is there anything I can do with this? Or can you fix this?

Enemy Army NPCs at the military base see through walls, apparently. I got to the 13th floor in the military base, and right when I went around a corner three Army NPCs opened fire and destroyed me in one second with their firearms. 😐

This mod needs the attacking bandits sound option to come back. Also one major issue is killing friendly bandits by accident when fighting zombies. Either make friendly bandits untargetable or make them not turn against you if you hit them.
Thanks to the creator of the mod for such a wonderful creation, my friend was killed six months ago by an NPC with the words “Loser”, since then he left our discord server and never came back.

thank you. such an amazing mod. a mad woman with a shovel killed my friend. called him a loser. it made him rage so hard that he left our discord server. it happened like half a year ago.

ps. he did not recover from that. nobody spoke to him after that too.
